Welcome to night!

About me!

I am Patricia Rameau Lamothe but I am known by your children as Miss. Patricia. I am married and blessed with two beautiful children. I studied early childhood education and have worked in the field for 14 years. I love what I do it is truly a passion. I am looking forward to an outstanding, fun, creative and amazing school year with your children.

The process

• The first 6 years of a persons life have been proven to be the most important stages of learning and life in general. This is the foundation, the determining factor therefor we have a mission.

• A child needs to have in his little world the following ingredients in order to grow into a confident well rounded dependable citizen; they are: love, trust, consistency, discipline, confidence, imagination, assurance and lots of books .

• Our role as parents, teachers are to provide them with as many of these as we can. Once that is in place learning should be a breeze. I ask you to with me start this process right. This is a

team effort and your children are our motivation.

What are prerequisites?• Prerequisites are everything that we do in preschool. • The necessary tools required prior to formal learning. • The bases of all that is to come ahead. • For example: before I introduce the square I have to introduce the lines

(vertical and horizontal ) as separate lessons and make sure that it is set in their minds as of what they are, look like, how to trace them sort them and basically identify and point them out in all the ways possible.

• Remember they may identify a square and not know what it consist . • later on in the year we may even try to identify angles, slanted lines

before introducing the triangle and next year those slanted lines will be seen again when it is time to introduce letter “A”, those vertical and horizontal line for “H” and L.

• This is why I say prerequisites are everything that we do in preschool. Details are very important because they are all in some ways connected

Tips that will help develop fine motor skills…

• Have children trace lines, shapes, letters and numbers using as traceable area pre written letters, numbers, shapes and lines done with a highlighter

• Out line in a picture one object at a time and ask that the child color inside of the outlined area in the color it has been highlighted

• Cutting exercises ( fine motor skills) first vertical lines than zig zags than waves and than spirals

Parents role and involvement

We need your presence, support and participation in all that concern your children. My doors are always open to you if you have ideas, wish to stop by and read the class a story, volunteer your time for special events. Get involved!

.• Your child’s perception at 3• “If I like it, its mine.”• “If it’s in my hand, it’s mine.”• “If I can see it, it’s mine.”• “If I had it a little while ago, It’s

mine.”• “If I need it it’s mine.”• “If I think it’s mine it’s mine.”• “If I saw it first, it’s mine ( if I did not

see it first it’s still mine)”• “Nothing has consequences if I don’t

want them too.”• “Cleaning up is an option and I chose

not to do so even if I made the mess.”“The world revolves around me.”

School is the first true outside world they encounter right after leaving home. Our job is to kindly, slowly and tactfully bring them to realize that they are a part of society and that society has rules and regulations. In our class those rules are as follows• Use your words.• Share with your friends.• Say please and thank you.• Be friendly.• Help others.Do notice that no negative words were used in our rules. Suggested behavior is a better approach vs don't, stop, bad ect….

Positive reinforcement good behavior is rewarded and acknowledged by praise and stickers and also a nice note on Fridays to mom and dad.

Consequences 3 is our magic number… on the third warning there is a consequence our timeout chair also referred to as our thinking chair. This allows the child to think about what he had done for a short period of time

Lets keep it healthy

Birthday policy

School partiesWe are open to birthday parties in school. Lets keep it simple. Cupcakes are easier to manage, individual juices, napkins, plastic forks, small paper plates and don’t forget the candle matches. Our group is fairly small you have the choice of bringing enough for the whole preschool/kinder of just our group.

InvitationsPlease understand that at this age kids are very sensitive and easily hurt. If you plan on having a party at home and desire to send the invitation at home those invitations sent at school have to include the whole class.
