Respect and Restraint If you are on your game -Should be no reason
for giving a card U7 to U12
Do not show card to a coach, let him/her know he has been cautioned or ejected
Be very direct and decisive to players
Welcome Sept 8th 2010 Fall Referee Meeting
Respect and Restraint Be patient – turn a deaf ear to coach and parent complaints,
when you hear either parent or coach instruct their players to harm or foul – then you step in!
Do not stand there after a game waiting to be “counseled by a coach” do your paper work, say good game, and leave.
For Major league game, they are to give you a roster and referee misconduct, misconduct is yours – turn into Gary at tent immediately after you finish.
Referee Update
•Completed 2 Clinics R9 and R8 in August
•Have well over 100 referees to cover 100 games per week –peak currently, do not anticipate Referee Clinics in Spring at this time – maybe a Bridge R8 Class
•QuickFoot picked up a couple new experienced adult referees
•Have 1 Stand-by R8 and R9 for peak times (use R8 to mentor, R9 for anything else needed)
Referees Rule :Weather
Once games are defined as “playable” it is then up to the referee at the field and on the field to determine whether the current WEATHER conditions necessitates discontinuance. Defer to Tracy, Gary or Tommy if we are there.
Referee will determine if it is safe to continue: Lightning – done, If you see it you call it!!!!! Rain – play unless it is at such a rate you cannot
continue safely – I.E. so hard you can’t see the game, the field is so sloppy kids will get hurt
Wind strong enough to carry dangerous objects Heat – meet with coaches before game, if one wants
a water break – give a water break(no additional time ) – rule says equal halves.

Coaches You can Help Maintain a Positive
Environment!!
•RSA rules state a coach must stay in the technical area – it is defined 10 yds either side of midfield – try to stay there (GSA states from the Penalty box – 18yd line)
•Parents and Fans should keep comments favorable and directed at their own players only to avoid elevating situation.
•Do not offer advice to referees – before during or after game, that is what game reports are for. They will complete their prime responsibilities and exit the field.
