Welcome back St. Angela Merici students and parents to a new school year! If you are already a student saver, I hope you will continue to save each Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. If not, here is some information about our Student Saver Program. I hope you will join. The Student Saver Program will start on Wednesday, August 31 at 7:30 a.m. This program has helped thousands of families learn the importance of saving on a regular basis by making it fun and interactive. Parent Information: Unity Catholic Federal Credit Unions Student Savers Program is an excellent way for your child to learn about money and how to save. We are providing an opportunity for your child to open their own savings account. A Credit Union representative will be at the school weekly to accept savings deposits. Getting Started: Joint Account- Parent or guardians are joint owners and both can withdraw from the account. The parent or guardian information should be in the Joint Owners section. The child’s information should be in the Member/Owner section. Both child (if able) and parent or guardian should sign the membership application, under the heading Authorization. The child’s social security number MUST be in included. Please return the membership application (applications can be obtained from the student savers representative, the school office, or by visiting our website www.unitycatholiccu.org) along with a minimum $5.00 deposit to the Credit Union or School. Each child that opens a new account will receive: A Student Saver Wallet Savings Book which includes the child’s name and account number.
Once your child has opened an account with the Unity Catholic Federal Credit Union they are a member for life, which means they will be eligible for other Credit Union benefits when the time arises. One of our greatest benefits is our James E. Flynn Memorial Scholarship Program; see the attached application. Also, you and your immediate family are also eligible for membership. Just stop by our office to open your account. For additional information regarding student savings or any other Credit Union services, please call Kelly Reddy, Business Development Manager at 440-886-2558 x 244 or kcreddy@unitycatholiccu.org. What is a Credit Union? A credit union is a cooperative financial institution that is owned and operated by its members who share a common bond such as place of employment or a community or a school. Credit union members save and borrow money from each other. At Unity Catholic Federal Credit Union, we want our young adult members to learn good financial habits. That’s why we offer the Student Savers program to members up through eighth grade.
How it Works Our Student Savers program encourages young adults to develop good saving habits by having their own Savings Account. One day each week, a Student Savers Representative from the credit union will be at school to accept savings deposits. Each school has a designated day, so check with your school for the scheduled Student Savers day. For additional information, visit our Youth Programs page at www.unitycatholiccu.org.
Special IncentivesWe know freebies and giveaways are a great way to encourage young adults to save. That’s why we offer surprises and gifts ranging from pizza parties, iTunes products, and on occasion, a grand prize, when Student Savers participants make deposits to their account. You’ll never know what’s coming next!
Transaction LimitationsDeposits may be done at the school on the designated day or at any Unity Catholic FCU office. All withdrawals MUST be done in person at one of our credit union offices. We CANNOT accommodate withdrawals at any school location.
Rates, Fees & Minimum BalanceThere are no service fees, and the minimum balance to open a Share Savings Account and begin participating in the Student Savers program is $5. If you choose to close your account, these funds will be returned to you. Share Savings Account rates are updated regularly based on market conditions.
Return the completed Application to the credit union or school with the $5 opening deposit.
Sign the back of the Application, and make sure the Joint Member signs the back of the application as well!
