What am I?

I am evergreen. I like to scale fences, trees and houses. I attract wasps, bees and hover flies.

Ivy leaves are symmetrical (the same on both sides). Can you find any leaves that are symmetrical? Can you draw them?

Go on a leaf hunt. How many different types can you find? Can you sort them into groups?

Can measure leaves using a ruler? What is the longest leaf you can find?

Leaf ArtGo on a hunt for leaves, twigs and flowers. Can you make leaf animals, people or trees?

Ivy leaves come in different colours and sizes. How many types can you find? (this could be on a walk, in your garden or researching on the internet). Take some pictures to share.

Directions:1. Using a loly pop stick, cover the outside of toilet paper roll with peanut butter.2. Roll the peanut butter covered toilet paper roll in the bird seed until covered.

3. Thread a piece of string through the toilet paper roll and knot.4. Hang where birds can enjoy.

*Once you have made your bird feeder and hung it in the garden, use the ‘Bird Watch Tally Chart’ to record the number of birds you see in your

garden over a period of time (2 or 3 days).Once you have collected this information, complete the ‘Bird Watch

Graph’ to show your results and complete the questions.

*Here are some other ways you can retrieve the lost words.

• Fact File – Choose one the lost words and create a fact file all about them. You could present this as a PowerPoint, poster, leaflet…

• Habitats – Create a suitable habitat to try and encourage the lost words to live in your garden.

• Paper Plate Nature – Using a paper plate (or just paper/card), make some of the different lost words.

• Story Telling – Write a story that includes one of the lost words or is written from their point of view.

• Still Life Art – Go out into the natural world with paper and a pencil. Find a quiet spot to sit in and draw what you can see.

Create a nature bingo sheet for your family and explore the environment.

A few fun ideas to do with the different plants that you might have in your garden or find on a walk.

When it’s dry, you could paint the different flowers, leaves and twigs or you could paint the surrounding area and leave the impressions without colour.

Create art using leaves and petals.
