Put People First! Our Message: We need a budget plan that stops
the cuts to public services, supports
our communities, creates jobs and
condemns discrimination.
Cut corporate tax breaks before vital
services.
The corporations and the wealthythat benet need to share the sac-
rices of middle class families and
working men and women.
Oppose compromise-and-release
workers compensation legislation
and if necessary support the middle-
ground bills proposed in the House.
Oppose legislation that discriminates
against any group of workers, includ-
ing the drivers license/identicards bills
that can be used for racial proling.
Its about budget priorities:

Protect Our FutureEnd Unfair Corporate Tax Breaks
pecial tax breaks and loopholes cost Washingtonians billions of dollars every year. Thats moneyould be going healthcare, education and other essential public services. Below are some examunjustified corporate tax breaks.
Tax break for Wall Street banks: $100 million per yearThe B&O deduction on interest from first home mortgages was originally intended to help amajor bank headquartered in Washington compete with other national banks. There are nolonger any major banks headquartered in here and the vast majority of mortgages are origiby out-of-state banks or sold to out-of-state banks. The deduction no longer makes sense.
Sales tax break for elective cosmetic surgery: $8 million per yearIncludes: teeth whitening, and laser eye surgery.
Special tax break for private jets: $5 million per yearOwners of private jets currently pay a flat fee, regardless of the size or value of their jet. Vewealthy private jet owners should pay their fair share.
Sales tax break for out-of-state coal: $11 million per yearSales tax is exempt on coal used at coal-fired thermal electric generation facilities.
Sales tax break for out-of-state shoppers: $44 million per yearCurrently, out-of-state shoppers from Oregon, some Canadian provinces, and other states have a sales tax rate of less than 3 percent are not required to pay the sales tax on purchamade in Washington.
Sales tax break for fertilizer: $40 million per year
Sales tax break for consumer services: $100 million per yearIncludes: hair removal, massages, movie theaters, beauty parlors, acupuncture, sportingevents, investment advice, and many others.
any tax loopholes look small but add up. When we are cutting deeply into education and healthcese seemingly small tax subsidies just dont make sense:
Sales tax exemption for film and video production equipment: $2 million a year
Sales tax exemption for display items for tradeshows: $2 million a year
B&O exemption for Christmas tree production: $500,000/year
Fish tax exemption for tuna, mackerel and jack: $340,000 a year
Sales tax exemption for bedding materials for chickens: $180,000 a year
B&O exemption for fish cleaning businesses: $11,000 a year
Sales tax exemption for medically unnecessary prescriptions like Viagra and Propecia
