Water PhotographyI WILL BE PRESENTING SOME RESEARCH THAT I HAVE DISCOVERED ABOUT
CONTEMPORARY WATER PHOTOGRAPHY. I WILL ALSO BE SHOWING YOU SOME OF MY OLD WORK COMBINED WITH THE RESEARCH THAT I HAVE DONE.
ResearchAlfred-stiegliz landscapes
Alfred Stieglitz was born in the famous neighborhood of Hoboken,
New Jersey, during the year of 1864. He was the first son of a
German-Jewish couple whose names were Edward Stieglitz and
Hedwig Ann Werner. The photographer was feverishly devoted to his
creative mission and produced thousands of pictures in his lifetime,
This image shows a beautiful reflection on the ground which
caught my eye as my work is based on water. His work is also
mirrored witch I didn’t actually see at first when you first look at
it. Alfred was said to have been very jealous of the closeness
between the two twins and, as a result, spent much of his youth
wishing for a soul mate of his own.
Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams
Born on February 21st 1902, Ansel Adams was one of the greatest landscape
photographers of all time. As a young child he had aspirations of of becoming
a concert pianist, but soon set his sights on photography after a family holiday
to Yosemite National Park in 1916.
''Not everybody trusts paintings but people believe photographs.'' - Ansel
Adams
I find his work very inspirational due to the black and white contrast that bring
out the depth of the photograph. One of my favorite aspects about his images
is the fact they are landscape and tell such different perspectives of nature.
Fay Godwin
Fay Godwin
Her photographs, which captured the different moods and textures of
moors, forests and country trails with a remarkable sensitivity and lack
of sentimentality, were mostly produced in black and white, but with an
extraordinary tonal range.
Her work is very strong and simple, I love the diversity it creates when
looking through her work. Godwin uses the weather to her advantage
creating a dynamic look. The reflections on the water bring out the
foreground and bring a lot more depth to the whole image.
Hangulatos Refugium Forrás
I typed Hangulatos Refugium Forrás name
in and millions of images came up of the
sea and waves close up – I find his work
very interesting and calming. This is going
off topic a bit I know but each of the
images I have chosen show such beautiful
images I couldn’t resist.
I love images like this of the sea I had no
idea you could get so close to such detailed
work. As this is so hard to capture liv ing in the
u.k I will not be doing such fanatic images.
Hernrik Sorensen water
Henrik Sorensen, represented by Andrea Heberger, has already implemented Jab
Anstoetz, SAS, Hasselblad, Lichtenauer Mineralwasser and Kisters Underwater
campaigns. For a free work, the photographer living in Copenhagen recently invited
eleven actors to play with him and the camera under water. The result shows how the
wet element gives emotions such as freedom, sensuality or mystical new expression
forms and viewing angles.
Henrik is not actually English he is actually German. His work is amazing to me such
stories must come from each one of these images, some are couples and others are
soups of people plunged into water. I love this body of work it shows such memorizing
aspects of the human form.
Henrik is one of my main influences I will be using him throughout my work.
Some of my old work
So this was for an art project when I was doing my A-levels.
I took images of my close friend at the time Noah she is Dutch and
was perfect for this shoot. The reason I took images of her in the
shower, pool is so I could paint an image of her. I merged the first
photo with a boat so she looked like a mermaid floating. The
shower images were so I could get closer images of detailed
water, I also painted that on A1. I loved taking these images and
would love to reenact this in a different way with my new
influences. I know this is not of last year but I don’t seem to have
much on water from last year so I took some photos from my past
work in Portugal.
Some more of my old work
My Influence
I have been inspired by my own sister due to a project she is
covering for her university underwater
I recently modeled for her underwater with dresses on in Glossop baths. This was an interesting task as I had to wear silk dresses which almost made me drown due to the weight of the material no it does
not float, I enjoyed this in the end tho and I've seen some of the images and was thinking of doing a similar thing.
My work will be a combination of females and males modeling in
either a river or landscape background. I want to include - Ansel Adams and Hernrik Sorensen in my work and combine the two.
I think this could be a fantataic project to do.
