WASH United :• tackles taboos and create demand

for sanitation;• promotes hand-washing with soap

(ash, sand or mud);• advocate for safe drinking water

and sanitation as a human right.

Why WASH United?

WASH United is the brainwave of football-crazy human rights lawyer Thorsten Kiefer, who recognised the opportunity of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa to promote WASH and the right to water and sanitation.

First seed funding from SIDA, Brot für die Welt, also secured funding from BMZ, German Foreign Office, Norwegian Foreign Office due to excitement, enthusiasm and first successful photo shoot with Stephen Appiah.
