A short walk from the visitorcentre takes you to a viewingpoint to see the cliffs, a freewalking map of the cliffs isavailable from the visitor centre

Enjoy a walk across the cliffs toSouth Foreland Lighthouse, askin the visitor centre for moreinformation.

Walking to The White Cliffs of DoverTake a walk through Dover,past the museum and along theseafront to the iconic White Cliffs.On your way you'll see the historicmedieval castle while viewing thehustle and bustle of the world'sbusiest passenger port. Whenyou get to the cliffs, call in to ourvisitor centre to collect a freewalking map and grab a bite toeat or treat yourself to somethingfrom our shop.

TerrainThe walk is mostly on paved surfaces with some steps; mostly flat, with one very steep section. Theroute is challenging with a pushchair.

Starting your walk outside Dover Priory railway station

Continue down Folkestone Road past the petrol station, staying on the left side of the road.

Walk down the left side of the roundabout and cross the road at the pedestrian crossing. Once over the crossing walk back towards the roundabout, taking the first left into Priory Street.

At the bottom of Priory Street turn right and walk down the main shopping street.

Continuing in the same direction, cross the Market Square walking down King Street.

Look ahead for the underpass under the main road.

Walk through the underpass and climb the stairs on the other side, head through the gap betweenthe buildings ahead of you.

Once you’ve crossed the road, turn left walking along the promenade towards the cliffs and castle.

Just past Pebbles Kiosk and the toilets you’ll see a pedestrian crossing over the main road. Cross the road and walk down the smaller road called East Cliff behind the large houses.

Continue along East Cliff, as the road starts to climb gently you walk onto Athol Terrace.

Walk along Atholl Terrace, past the end of the houses and garages, there is a small footpath thatleads up to the cliffs just beyond the end garage.

The path will continue to climb up. The footpath will pass under a main road to the docks, head upthe short flight of stairs and continue uphill, staying on the path.

When you get to the top of the path, you will come onto a main road, you’ll see the National Trustwelcome sign for the cliffs. Walk into the site along the main road, passing the car park booth.

Follow the main road in, you'll see the Visitor Centre building ahead of you.
