beFore You beginbatterypack.Ifchargingwiththetransceiverattached,turnthetransceiveroff.Theantennajackshouldbeattheleftsidewhenviewingthechargerfromthefront.

rIf thebattery pack is inserted correctly, theLED in-dicatorwillglowred.Afully-dischargedbatterypackwill charge completely in 1.5 - 3.0hours (dependingonthebatterypackbeingcharged).

r When charging is completed, theLED indicatorwillchangetogreen.

r DisconnectthebatterypackfromtheCD-58DesktopChargerandunplug thePA-55ACAdapter from theAClineoutlet.

Automatic.Time-Out.TimerIf the selected channel has beenprogrammed for auto-matic time-out, youmust limit the lengthof each trans-mission.Whiletransmitting,abeepwillsound10secondsbefore time-out.Anotherbeepwill sound justbefore thedeadline; the toppanel’s redLED (“TX” indicator)willdisappearandtransmissionwillceasesoonthereafter.Toresumetransmitting,youmustreleasethePTTswitchandwaitforthe“penaltytimer”toexpire.

ToactivateFollowMeScan,first select thechannelyouwant to designate as the “user-assignedpriority chan-nel”bypositioning theCHSelectorknobon thedesired“priority” channel.Next, press, (or press andhold), theassignedPFkey (thedisplaywill indicate“FM.SCAN”briefly). Finally, rotate theCH Selector knob to thede-sired“operatingchannel”.
