VVV Family AssociationReunion July 2009

The VVV Reunionwas held at the Handlery Hotel and Resort.

Jordan welcomed everyone to San Diego

The first night was an informal gathering.

Mary Wallace brought her g.g.grandmother’s cameo to show us.Cintha Vawter Robinson hid this treasure from the Yankees

during the Civil War.

Brooke Bugos rang the traditional cowbell at the opening meeting and then led us in

the Pledge of Allegiance.

The MIDWAY!!!Most of the VVV cousins took the tour of

the USS Midway on Thursday.It is now a museum on the waterfront of

South Bay.It is the most decorated ship in history (at

least that still floats)It was in service for 50 yearsMany different styles of planes are

displayed on the flight deck

The weather was just beautiful.

                                     

July average temperatures:

High - 76 degrees F

Low – 66 degrees F

Many cousins enjoyed going to the World Renowned San Diego Zoo

It is located in the heart

of San Diego and the

trolley will get you there

A few people went to the Wildlife Park

• Located north of town

• More of a natural habitat environment

                

The PadresBaseball team

PETCO park was built in 2004 Many of the VVV cousins attended

a baseball game. Most rode the Trolley.

The San Diego trolleyan easy way to get around town, once you figure it out !!

Fred Wicker gave us a genealogy lesson.

Garland and Mary Wallace and Beth Melton compare notes after the genealogy session.

The banquet was Friday night.

Vice President Shirley Beasley took over when Jordan went home because of a family emergency.

Austin and Brooke helped Shirleywith the Memorial Service.

Helen and Dee Johnson

have been married the longest.

The oldest and youngest:Brooke Bugos and Fred Wicker

Rebecca Cummings came from Hawaii

Jerry and Daria gave away a lot of door prizes.

Ken is getting good at this auction business.

Norma Wicker made a beautiful cross for the auction.

Rhonda Pennington brought a wonderful handmade quilt.

Ellen invited everyone to Virginia for the 2010 VVV reunion.
