Volunteering!How? and Why?

Why Should I Do It?Volunteering takes up our time, energy, and sometimes, money.

It can be hard work.

It can be challenging and even a little scary.

So why does anyone even go there?

Volunteering is good for others!

The world is not a perfect place.

Many people, animals, places, and communities need help.

Volunteering is good for YOU!Are you thinking, “What’s in it for me?”

The answer is, plenty!

How Can I Make a Difference?

The Problems of the world Might Seem

Gigantic

You might even feel like there’s no point

trying to do anything.

Think about what you’re interested in and about what you’re good at.

Think about how much of a time commitment are you willing or able to make?

Think about any family commitments or limitations you may already have.

Then look for need in your own community

Sometimes there are things that need improving or people who need help, but we can’t see them by just looking around.

Try asking your parents or teachers about worthy causes to get involved with.

Surf the ‘Net for Web sites that match you up with jobs and projects.

Check out your church, school, and community center.
