VOL. 17 WEEK 9, TERM 2, 2020

NEWSLETTER Aim high, go far...

Next P&C Meeting– 5th August, 2020

This week we have excitedly began setting some dates for events next term. It’s great to see many things starting back up and as a school we have made decisions about what we can continue to run and have begun putting in action plans to make sure we can keep everyone as safe as possible. We are hop-ing to see Afternoon Activities back up and running next term also, but we need to finalise some proto-cols around these first. We have had quite a few students off school this week sick. Please ensure that if your child is unwell that they remain at home. On Tuesday, the teaching staff had a meeting to discuss our students Academic Achievement data for this semester, I am so impressed with the outcomes all students have achieved this term. All students are achieving at or above their Year Level standards which is amazing. I attribute this to the implemen-tation of the Small School’s Curriculum, a consistent way of teaching in classrooms, the support we can offer students through personalised attention with our Teacher Aides and the implementation of Learn-ing Walls in classrooms. I would like to congratulate students for their tremendous effort and thank our amazing Teachers and Teacher Aides for their work in supporting students in their learning. On Monday we will be holding a Rewards afternoon for the students in the form of a Disco. This was decided on by the student body as something they would like. The event will run from 5-7pm in the school library. Notes were emailed and sent home with students on Thursday. If your student didn’t receive one, please contact the school office. Over the past few weeks our staff have been working on redefining our behavioural expectations based on some recommendations by our P&C and a new policy format from the Department. Early next term I will send out the most up to date draft for Parent/ Community feedback. The most notable change is that we are adding a new expectation around resilience. I look forward to hearing your input and supporting our students behaviourally both at school and beyond the learning environment. Thank-you for your continued support. Tanya

CURRICULUM NEWS P-3 CLASS This week in P-3, we have been enjoying lots of down time and friendship building activities within the class-

room after assessments. We have been working on different STEM ac-tivities and participated in outdoor learning. 4-6 CLASS: Year 5/6 mould ex-periments have been completed

this week. Stu-dents made some ‘disgusting’ dis-coveries of how and why mould forms in certain

places. Year 4 presented their endangered ani-mal presentations to an eager audience of 5/6 students. Our maths focus has been on multipli-cation and we have seen stu-dents excelling through the multi-plication challenge.

Health and Physical Education:

Students have been enjoying participating in whole school soccer games.

It’s been great to watch all students developing and refining dribbling, kick-

ing and even some fancy footwork. The school leaders had the opportunity

to plan, organise and run a sport for the whole school this week. It was fan-

tastic to see 100% participation.

Technologies: This week students have finalised their reflections of their assessment tasks and

their design ideas. The students have shown a good ability to problem solve. In the afternoons students

have participated in whole school activities where the leaders have had the opportunity to run sessions

for the students.

The Arts:

This week in the Arts, all students have been completing assessments and participating in whole

school activities. Its been a great week to showcase team work and good sportsmanship. The whole

school have been participating in these activities with the school expectations in mind. Well done!
