Campaign for Change – Nepal
Campaign for Change-Nepal (CCN) is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental social
organisation working in the field of peace, human right, democracy and sustainable
community development. It is initiation by the youth activist. We believe that youth can play
the vital role on social change and overall development. It was established in 2005 A.D. Since
its establishment it has been working on educational, health/sanitation, Human right
(specially against racism and for gender, regional and cast equality), skills development and
capacity building program and several social issues at local, regional and national level.
We have strategic future plan like community development, peace, democracy, social change
and youth rights. It has nation wide active youth members who are mainly from rural area of
Nepal. We have networking member and partner organisations at five-development region at
local level of Nepal.
Expectations
These are our expectations from hosting EVS volunteers:
� Proposal and report writing in the European and international format
� Making the organisation profile, web site and publication
� Build linkage, relation and coordination with other international organisations and
community.
� Different kind of awareness Program for the Youth and Student in different community
and School/collage
� Secretariat management, networking and communication skill development
� Study about Nepalese cultural and social specialties and disseminate the information
for foreigners, who are interested to know about our country and cultures.
� Share and exchange the teaching methodology
CCN’s office is located in Baneshwor area of Kathmandu on the 1st floor.
The office has a meeting room, two working spaces (one of which is the president’s office) a
bathroom and kitchen.
There is internet access during working hours and two computers that are shared between
the staff and volunteers.
The ground floor is occupied by the COCAP - ---- of which CCN is a regional member.
Activities →
The volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in several different activities
according to their interests, competences and the needs of CCN.
On your arrival, during the on-arrival training, you will develop an activity programme
alongside your mentor, the activity coordinator and a representative of CE.S.I.E.
This will also identify your learning objectives so that you have a structured learning plan.
You will work together with CCN on several activities as well as supporting their local
partners that include schools for children with mental disabilities as well as two junior and
high schools that collaborate with CCN in different activities.

Mental Disabled School, Patan, Lalitpur (1),

Students: regularly 15-20 attend each day, aged between 6 and 21 yrs old
Staff: 3
Working hours: 10:00 – 15:00 for students, 9:30 – 16:00 for staff
The school is semi-government funded therefore a proportion of the costs are covered by the
state.
The students suffer from different types of mental disabilities including autism, downs
syndrome as well as physical impairments and disabilities.
The daily activities are:
9:30 – planning of day’s activities
10:00 – 15:00 – activities with students
15:00 – 16:00 – evaluation and planning for next day
Each student, when starting at the school, is evaluated in order to understand their needs.
From this a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly plans are developed.
On the last Friday of each month there is a meeting with the parents of the students.

∗ working hours – min 30 hours / max 35 hours 6 hours each day
∗ 2 days off per week
∗ 2 days off per month of volunteering plus all national holidays. Vacation days per month of
volunteering, volunteer can take them each month or accumulate and take more days in a specific
period with prior agreement of hosting organisation and after completion of tasks
∗ Each volunteer will be expected to sign and complete a report sheet each day + evaluation sheet
every month
∗ Each volunteer must attend weekly meeting with mentor plus attend language and all training
sessions provided by CCN
Finances →
• Pocket money - €50 / month (pocket money declaration must be signed by both volunteer +
hosting organisation on receipt of the money)
• Food money – € 100 / month
• Transport costs (linked to activities) – reimbursed by host organisation each week
Language Lessons →
72 hours of Nepalese language lessons will be provided in the first two months of the programme
Accommodation →
The volunteers live in a flat together that will be composed of 2 double rooms + 1 single room, kitchen
and dining area, 1 toilet and bathroom with shower according to the Nepalese style.
Each volunteer will have a single room and the following materials will be provided:
Bed (with drawers underneath) + mattress

Carpet
Volunteers have to prepare their food and maintain cleanliness by themselves. They have to stay
without disturbing their neighbours.
Volunteers will be expected to live according to Nepalese culture, customs and context. Many things
that we take for granted in Europe are not available and are not used in Nepalese houses.
Electricity is unreliable and runs from 6-10 hours / day – due to little electricity, fridges + electric
cookers etc are not used
Water – there is currently a water shortage in Kathmandu valley, therefore water ought to be used
sparingly, running hot water is not common in Nepalese houses (water must be heated on the stove
and then used)
Internet will be available in the CCN office during office hours but it will depend on electricity supply
Clothes/ sheets etc can be handwashed or taken to a local laundry
