History Of Art• Art has been around since the

beginning of human life– Some of the first art ever created was

on the walls of caves• Most depict animals like deer and bison

Cave art: ~40,000-10,000 B.C.

Pop Art: ~1960-1980 A.D.

Renaissance art: ~1400-1600 A.D.

Look around…• Visual art is everywhere– Your chair– Your cell phone– Your computer– The clothes you’re wearing– This Presentation

• Any object has an artistic touch– If not, we would have bland, colorless

things

Visual Art Forms

– There are many different forms of art• Painting, Graphic design,

Architecture, Sculpture , Photography, Filmmaking, Etc.

– In simple terms; Visual Art is anything you can see

Painting– The most practiced art form– Dates from pre-historic humans to

present day art• Many different styles of painting

– Early Renaissance style– Modernistic style– Etc.

• Many different mediums to paint onto– Canvas– Human body– Etc.

– The art of mixing symbols and text to create a work of art

– Often used in advertising and industrial design

– A Graphic Designer uses typography and page layout techniques

• Today, photos can be minipulated to look nothing like the actual thing captured– Cropping– PhotoShop
