Projects – Overseas The construction works of 2 x 150 MW Power
Project are nearing completion at Maamba,
Zambia.
During the quarter the following major
milestones were achieved:
1. 330kV Double Circuit Transmission Line &
330kV Switchyard have been charged, facilitating evacuation of power generated by MCL from Maamba to the grid.
2. Steam Blowing and Boiler Light up of Boiler-1 have been completed.
Awards & Achievements
JSW Steel Limited gave an “Appreciation Memento” to the Company for continuous support through supply of SiMn, at an event organized by it for its Main Vendors, on 20th & 21st May. Mr. N. Suresh Chandra, Deputy General Manager (Production) and Mr.V.S. Vasu, Senior Manager (Sales) participated in the vendors’ meet. STG – 2 of Unit-I (32 MW) of the 114 MW Power Plant at Paloncha has been continuously available for 550 days and despite being operated in island mode on 32 occasions due to external disturbances, the Unit achieved a PLF of 86.57% and crossed the milestone of 300 days of uninterrupted operation. The Management congratulates the FAP (T) and PP(T) staff for their achievements.
Maamba Collieries Limited (MCL), Zambia, a step-down subsidiary of NBVL, received
another Award “Project Finance Deal of the Year 2016” from World Finance for the
project finance transaction involving an estimated outlay of US$ 843 Million. World
Finance is a multi-platform Media Company with over twenty years of experience,
specializing in print, digital media, broadcasting and events – across key financial
sectors.
World Finance has commended the support that the project has gained from Chinese
Banks and the new standards it has set in Sub Saharan African project finance deals.
Mr.Ashwin Devineni, Resident Director, MCL and Mr.P.J.V.Sarma, Director, NBPL received the Award in London.

3. 200MVA Generator Transformer of Unit-1 has been back charged.
4. Unit-1 has been synchronized with the grid.
Management Systems
External audits of the following systems were conducted, in June at our Units: 1. En MS (ISO 50001) at NBEIL, Paloncha. 2. QMS (ISO 9001) at NBVL, Paloncha. Convinced with the effective
implementation of the above systems, the
Auditors recommended continuation of the
respective accreditations.
Celebrations The “National Fire Service Day” was
celebrated at our Units on 14th June. As
part of the celebrations, awareness training
programme on fire safety and use of fire
safety equipment was given to the
employees and contract workmen.
Social Development The Paloncha Unit hosted “Entrepreneurship Development Programme” for Women aspirants, organized by M/s Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India, a Central Government organization. Dr. K. Sriram, Sector Manager (Handicrafts) spoke on the occasion. A total of 70 women attended the programme.

Awareness Training on Prevention of Fire

NBVI entered into MoUs for improving employment opportunities for the rural youth in and around the Paloncha Works. The MoUs entered into and their purposes are as follows: 1. With M/s Schneider Electric Foundation,
Bengaluru, for “Train the Trainer Programmes”, Certification and placement of students trained in
Electrical Trade at NBVI.
Social Development Contd… The participants of the 3rd batch of Tally and DTP course, 9th batch of Tailoring & Embroidery course and 7th batch of Beautician course completed their training successfully. A certificate awarding ceremony was organized for the participants of these courses at Nava Bharat Vocational Institute (NBVI), Paloncha, in April. Dr.N. Kishore Reddy, Director, Sri Ramananda Tirtha Rural Institute (SRTRI) and Mr. G. Raji Reddy Municipal Commissioner, Paloncha, the Chief Guest, gave away the certificates to the candidates. Dr. N. Kishore Reddy, appreciated the efforts of the Company to improve the employability of youth and empowerment of women. The Paloncha Unit laid BT roads and constructed drains in notified slum areas viz. Punukula, Somulagudem, Sativari-gudem, Pinapakapatti Nagar, Palokoyya-thanda, Jagguthanda, Yerragunta and Maseedugutta.

Education
Nava Bharat Public School (NBPS) at Paloncha has once again achieved cent per cent results while Nava Bharat High School (NBHS) achieved ninety eight percent results in 10th Class, during the academic year 2015-16. All the 105 students of NBPS, who appeared for the examination, secured distinction. Out of the 105 students, Twenty Nine students obtained the maximum possible GPA of 10. Brahmani Public School, Kharagprasad, Odisha (managed by Nava Bharat) achieved excellent results during the academic year 2015-16. Out of the 46 students who appeared for 10th Class examination, 25 students secured maximum possible GPA of 10.
