INTRODUCTION

Biometric fingerprint scan technology.

Innovative invention by Sir Francis Galton in 1892.

Existing system drawbacks includes:

Iris scan technology.

Face recognition.

Hand geometry.

Voice recognition.

Iris scan technology Very expensive. Obstructed due to eye lashes, lens, reflection. Accuracy is less.

Face recognition Hindered by glasses, long hair, masks; etc. Accuracy is less. User needs to keep the face neutral when picture is being

taken.

Hand geometry Large in size. Very expensive. Not valid for arthritic persons.

Voice recognition Accuracy is less. Identification can be difficult due to illness/cold. Aging can be a major problem.

Literature survey..

Global Biometrics Market is Projected to Touch $21.9 Billion by 2020

Biometrics market is one of the key growing electronic security markets in the global landscape. Increasing government spending, national ID projects, e-passports & visas, rising crime rates, growing terrorist activities, cybercrimes, and data thefts are the factors that are spurring the market for various biometrics technologies globally.

Literature survey

International Journal of Scientific & Engineering Research, Volume 4, Issue 5, May-2013 899 ISSN 2229-5518 IJSER © 2013 Biometric verification is an automated method whereby an individual’s identity is confirmed by examining a unique physiological trait or behavioral characteristic, such as a fingerprint, retina, or signature.

Identification and verification (also known as authentication)are both used to declare the identity of a user.

Identification: In an identification system, an individual is recognized by comparing with an entire database of templates to find a match. The system conducts one-to-many comparisons to establish the identity of the individual. The individual to be identified does not have to claim an identity (Who am I?)

OBJECTIVE

To design security system for vehicles and

can be used for other applications.

Using Fingerprint and GSM module.

Vehicle will be safe and secure with this

system.

FINGERPRINT MODULE extraction

MATLAB is a high-performance language for technical computing.

It integrates computation, visualization, and programming in an easy-to-use environment where problems and solutions are expressed in familiar mathematical notation.

Typical uses include: Math and computation. Algorithm development.

Large scale use of biometric in auto industry

Example FINGERPRINT MODULE

ADVANTAGES Highly reliable.

Unique.

Processing speed is fast.

Economical biometric technology.

Less memory space.

Easy to use & user friendly.

Highly secured than other security systems.

DISADVANTAGES

Distortion due to dirt/dust on the fingertip.

Injuries or burns to the fingertips can cause a

person's fingerprint to become unreadable or even

eliminated.

Failure of network.

APPLICATIONS Cars.

Motorcycles.

Transport Vehicles.

Home security systems.

Lockers.

Attendance system in institutions or offices.

ATM’s.
