Children’s Justice Center

A multidisciplinary team comprised of public and private agencies coordinating a

comprehensive response when a child abuse crime has been committed.

Elder Justice Center

• Discovery and prosecution of perpetrators of vulnerable adult and elder abuse.

• Supported by representatives from Adult Protective Services, law enforcement officers, a deputy prosecuting attorney, a victim advocate, a program coordinator and community volunteers.

Arson

The Arson unit is comprised of personnel from the Vancouver Police Department and the Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office

Domestic Violence

The Domestic Violence Unit works within the Domestic Violence Prosecution Center on domestic violence crimes

Drug Task Force / Gang Task Force

Drug Task Force: identify, investigate and disrupt/dismantle drug trafficking organizations in and throughout the Vancouver-Clark County area.

Gang Unit: identifies and targets for prosecution organized crime groups and violent street gangs

SPECIAL OPERATIONS

Traffic

• Currently a five-person unit: 1 Sergeant and 3 Officers

• Major traffic collision investigation and reconstruction

• Responsive to complaints regarding school zones, pedestrian and bicycle safety,

impaired and distracted driving, speeding and other neighborhood traffic complaints

Canine

• VPD has four canine teams, when fully staffed and operational

Explosive Device & Bomb Unit

Portland Metro Explosive Disposal Unit (MEDU) team provides region-wide response to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive incidents.

SWAT SWAT

Missions include high-risk warrant service, barricaded subjects, hostage situations, high-risk apprehensions, dignitary protection details, security details, and assisting with arrest warrant sweeps.

Crisis Negotiation Team/ Tactical EMS

CNT includes five members from the Vancouver Police Dept. and five from the Clark Co. Sheriff’s Office
