Goals of Valley Gives

1. Raise unrestricted money for organizations throughout the Pioneer Valley that serve the needs and address the aspirations of our communities

2. Expand and enhance philanthropy and the spirit of giving throughout our community

3. Provide support and tools to organizations in the region that effectively increase their capacity to raise funds and share their stories.

Impact in the Pioneer Valley

Since 2012, Valley Gives has helped 559 nonprofits that participated and over $5.8

million was raised from 24,000+ donors

• Great way for a donor to maximize the impact of their donation.

• VG 2014:– 29% of participants secured a

matching grant. – Participants with a match raised

Only 1 matching grant can be set up at a time on your page

Some Details about Matches

The match does not need tobe verified through Razoo

The matching grant icon willappear on your page atmidnight of the start dateand track the amount left ofthe grant as donations aremade

How to Secure a Match• Ask local businesses, Board Members, major

donors to consider a matching gift.

• Don’t have a large donor? Engage a group and have them make a collective matching grant pledge!

Match Strategy

• Leverage the Match– Let the numbers talk. Include the matching grant

in your communications leading up to Valley Gives– Post status updates of the match to your social

media channels.– Include the match with your strategy on the Day

of Valley Gives – think hourly prizes

Peer Fundraisers

Any Individual Can Create a “Peer to Peer” Fundraiser

Any dollars, donors that come from your fundraisers count toward your totals for the day, increasing your chance to win prizes

• Provide support, guidance & tools• Create A Clear Call to Action for Fundraisers• Define Fundraising Goal• Create a Facebook Event to organize and

communicate with your Fundraisers• Create an internal competition among

Fundraisers to get participants actively engaged• Plan specific communications and motivate

your fundraisers

Donation Info• An email notification is sent to an Admin’s

email when a donation is made• View donor information and download the

report in real time• Donations are disbursed on the 10th of the

following month• You can also opt into EFT payments for bi-

monthly payments!

Pledges before VG Day

• Between April 2 and May 2 2016 donors are able to make a donation which will be counted towards that participating organization's totals on May 3.

• All donations will be processed immediately and will reflect on the Giving Day Totals for the event

• All secured pledges will be viewable to the organization through your admin panel under the Donations tab

• A user account does not need to be created to make a transaction however, if multiple donation transactions are being made for Valley Gives Day it is within a donor’s best interest to create a user account to access the donation receipts for tax purposes post-event

Your Valley Gives Strategy

• Email is still the most important outreach but using Facebook, Twitter and Instragram are important

• Develop and measure a social media engagement strategy

• Have physical presence in the community! Offline can promote online activity

• Generate new content: videos, images, stories

Setting Your Goals• Develop Organizational Goals– External Goals: Create a Visual to share– Internal Goals: Share with Staff, track your progress

• Tangible and organizationally contextual goals– Total donations?– New donors?– Project?

• Strategy related goals– Extent of your outreach, any special events?– Matching grants– Peer Fundraisers

Valley Gives “Day Of” Strategy• Share your Razoo organizational page URL in

various ways• Use the hashtag #ValleyGives for social media• Send 3 main e-mails

– Fundraising progress– Reminder of goals and prize incentives– Reason to give again and share to social network

• Be on the ground– Invite people in – open house, happy hour– Go to where the people are with iPads and on mobile.

• Be Prepared for Post-Event• Next Day Email - Thank You Results• Follow Up – Reconnect with donors. Donor
