THE SUNSHINE COMMITTEE
NEEDS YOUR HELP!
The Verdi Lodge Sunshine Committee allows the club to
extend condolences, and send flowers or gift to members
who are hospitalized, grieving, have a serious hardship, or
are otherwise in need of support. The club is effective in
this mission only if we know about those in need. So
please contact Josephine Scalora at 302-998-6191 as soon
as you know of a club member or a member of their family
who is in need. This would also include a person who has
supported or contributed to the club over time. It is better
if we hear about a need several times rather than to assume
that we have heard. Together we can help our members in
their time of need. Your cooperation & participation is
appreciated.
We the Italians is an ongoing project open to any
form of collaboration and partnership. Any
contribution or content or news regarding Italy in
the USA is welcome. Indeed, please use our
platform to promote and improve any kind of
info about what's Italian in the US.

YOU BETTER SHAPE UP
submitted by Leo Vadala
Every time I hear the dirty word exercise', I wash my mouth out with chocolate.
I do have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.
The advantage of exercising every day is so when you die they'll say 'Well, she looks good doesn't she'.
If you are going to try cross-country skiing, start with a small country.
We all get heavier as we get older because there's a lot more information in our heads!
You could run this over to your friends but why not just e-mail it to them.

Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend
an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7,000 per month.
My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60. Now he's 97 years
old and we don't know where the hell he is.
I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing
again.
I have to walk early in the morning, before my brain figures out what the hell I'm
doing.
I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven't lost a pound.
Apparently you have to go there.

Italian vowels (le vocali) are short, clear–cut, and are never drawn
out. The "glide" with which English vowels frequently end should
be avoided. It should be noted that a, i, u, are always pronounced
the same way; e and o, on the other hand, have an open and a
closed sound that may vary from one part of Italy to the other.
