Options for Administering 2014-15 CTE State Pre and Post Assessments
• If you are using Schoolnet for the Assessments, they can be done– Online in Schoolnet– Using a bubble sheet to scan into Schoolnet– Clickers to capture data in Schoolnet
• If you are not using Schoolnet for the assessments– Use paper and pencil with printed .pdf documents from
the CTE Director or IMC Primary Point of Contact. • Do not store assessments on local servers or LMS
systems like Haiku, Moodle, Quia, Blackboard, etc.
Roles Needed in Schoolnet
• Specific roles needed for IMCs to assign 2014-15 CTE State Pre and Post Assessments :
– Default Role = “Staff”
– Additional Roles:
1. “Test Item Administrator”
2. “Access to Assessment Management”
• Roles and Permissions for Schoolnet are assigned in PowerSchool by your District Data Manager/Administrator

CTE Middle School Assessment Process
1. State CTE staff create 2014-15 CTE State Pre and Post Assessments and Recommend them to the Districts.
2. IMCs locate assessments in Schoolnet.
3. IMCs Assign/Schedule the assessments to courses and schools.
4. Teachers provide passcodes to students to take the assessments online.
5. Students complete the assessments online.
1) Assessment Creation
• For the delivery of 2014-15 CTE State Pre and Post Assessments, the assessment creation process is handled at the state level.
• The CTE middle school assessments will be recommended and made available to you at your district level.
2) IMCs locate the assessments in Schoolnet.
There are two ways for IMCs to locate the assessments
1. Enter into your Schoolnet account and enter into Assessment Admin and look under Recommended Tests
2. Enter into your Schoolnet account and hover over the Assessment Admin to use the Find Test option to search by the test name
Home Base Login Page
• The Home Base URL is specific to your district.• Once you log in here, you are in Home Base and have access to the entire suite
of tools available within Home Base, including the student information, the core instructional improvement, and the NC educator evaluation systems.
Student Information System Landing Page
• Logging into Home Base will take you first to your student information system landing page (PowerTeacher).
• From here you can use use all of the tools in the student information system.• Clicking on the Home Base logo on the top left of the page will take you back to the landing
page once you have navigated to other parts of the student information system.• You can also access the instructional improvement and educator evaluation systems from
this page.

• From this student information system landing page, you will click on “Schoolnet” to access the instructional improvement system.
Locate the State Recommended Assessment (option 1)
• Hover over Assessment Admin
• Click on Dashboard
Locate the State Recommended Assessment (option 2)
• Hover over Assessment Admin
• Click on Find a Test
3. IMCs Assign/Schedule the assessments to courses and schools
• Go to “Schedule Information” and click on “Edit Schedule and Settings”
• Check “Assign to Students” and then click “Edit Assignments” to select courses and schools
• Click on “Add Selected” once the courses and schools are set and click on “Done, View Summary” to confirm
• Online passcode is found on summary screen
Scheduling Assessments
• On the Test Details Screen, Click Schedule Information
• Under Schedule Information, click on Edit Schedule and Settings
Scheduling Assessments
• These have already been populated at the State level and cannot be changed.
Assign the Assessment to Students
• CTE middle school assessments will be “Assigned to Students” from the District Level
• Click “Edit Assignment” to select your courses and complete the scheduling and assignment.
Select Courses for Student Assignment
• Search by Course Name, Department, or Grade Level.
• Choose Courses and Add Selected Courses.
• All students enrolled in the selected courses will now have the assessment assigned to them.
Select Courses & Schools for Student Assignment
• Follow the same steps as above, but use the “Limit by Schools” button to limit the schools for the assessment.
Select Schools
• You have the option to remove the schools you do not want to receive the assessment.
4. Teachers provide passcodes to students
to take the assessments online.
• Once the assessment is assigned to the courses, the teacher of the courses can access the online passcode.
• Ensure that you have correct roles (please work with your PowerSchool District Data Manager)
• Search for 2014-15 CTE State Pre and Post Assessments (in the Dashboard or Find a Test)
• Assign/Schedule assessments
• Administer assessments
