About DCT

• Microsoft Excel-based form designed with the intent to facilitate

environmental data transfer between TE Connectivity and its suppliers

• To comply with the various environmental regulations and directives we

need to ensure that parts that are used to make our products do not have

hazardous substances beyond the thresholds specified by the regulation or

directive

Where Can I Obtain The DCT?

• To download the most current version of the DCT and related training

documentation, following the below navigation path…

– ADC.com > About ADC > Partner Programs > Suppliers

• Save the DCT to a preferred and easy-to-find location on your computer

Opening the DCT

• Macros must be enabled for the tool to function properly

• Open the DCT Excel file

• If prompted, select “Enable Macros”

• Review the license agreement and select “I Agree”

– Uncheck “Display at startup” to avoid future prompts

DCT Process

1.Receive request for data from TE Connectivity

2.Download attached XML request file that contains the details of the request

3.Open the DCT and import the XML request file

4.Select the ‘Products’ view and complete required data fields for each material

in the request

5.Select the ‘Subs. Declaration’ view and disclose presence/absence of each

declarable substance for each material in the request

6.Check for completeness of disclosure data

7.Certify and export data

1. Receive Request From TE Connectivity

• When TE Connectivity requires substance data on a material you provide, an

e-mail will be sent to the environmental contact we have on file

• This e-mail will contain details of the request, including material numbers,

request date, due date, and a link to the DCT tool and related training

documentation

2. Download XML Request File

• The substance data request e-mail has an attached XML request file that

contains the material(s) and details specific to the request

• Download the attached XML request file to a preferred and easy-to-find

location on your computer

3. Import XML Request File

• Open the DCT

• Select ‘Import Request’ from the toolbar

• Navigate to the folder location that you saved the XML request file

• The DCT is then automatically populated with the information you need to

successfully complete the substance data request

4. Complete ‘Products’ Data

• Select ‘Products’ from the toolbar to activate the products view

• Toggle through the ‘Compliance Data’, ‘Manufacturing Data’, ‘Revision

Information’, and ‘Miscellaneous’ tabs to hide/show data fields for each

material

• Complete, at a minimum, all highlighted fields

4. Complete ‘Products’ Data

• Until all required fields are completed for a given material, the Status will

indicate ‘Incomplete’

• Click on ‘Incomplete’ to show a pop-up that specifies all data fields that

needed to be completed

• Double-click on the incomplete data field name to be taken directly to the

associated cell in the DCT

4. Complete ‘Products’ Data

• You have the option of removing individual materials from the DCT if they are

impeding your ability to declare on the remaining material(s)

• To do this, click on ‘Rem’ under the ‘Commands’ header

• Note: Materials that are removed from the DCT will remain as open tasks in our business

system and will be subject to escalation if they are not subsequently addressed

4. Complete ‘Products’ Data

• Once all required fields have been populated, the Status will indicate

‘Complete’

5. Complete ‘Subs. Declaration’ Data

• Select ‘Subs. Declaration’ from the toolbar to activate the substance

declaration view

• All declarable substances default to being absent with a ‘Complete’ status

• Review the list of declarable substances in the request to determine if any of

them are present in any of the materials

• If all of the substances are indeed absent, no action is required

5. Complete ‘Subs. Declaration’ Data

• If any of the declarable substances are indeed present in the material, specify

the substance and how much is present

• Using the drop down, review the presence of any of the declarable

substances for each of the materials in the request

6. Check For Completeness of Data

• Select ‘Check’ from the toolbar to check for data completeness

• An error message will be returned if the data completeness check fails

• A confirmation message will be returned if the data completeness check is

successful

7. Certify and Export Data

• Select ‘Certify and Export’ from the toolbar to certify the data and select the

delivery method of return to TE Connectivity

– ‘E-mail certified file …’ – Attaches the certified file to an automatically generated e-

mail back to TE Connectivity

– ‘Save certified file …’ – Saves the certified file to your computer to be later manually

attached to an e-mail back to TE Connectivity

7. Certify and Export Data

• Upon selection of either delivery method, a certification statement will be

displayed

• Review the statement and click ‘Certify’

• Utilizing the automatically generated e-mail, or a manually generated e-mail,

return the certified file to TE Connectivity
