Leather for a Modern World
Our Unique Leather
Environmental Pioneers
Since 1840, Muirhead has been at the forefront of the leather industry, producing Fine Scottish Leather from hides reared through a unique blend of animal husbandry and fertile grazing, predominantly from Scotland.
Each and every hide is unique, with its own character and qualities, including growth lines, scars, and variations of grain and tone. These are testament to the natural origin of the leather and should not be regarded as a defect or fault.
Access to the finest raw materials helps us provide our customers with consistently high quality, Scottish leather.
We have an enviable track record in developing innovative solutions, on time and to budget, across the diverse industries that we supply. Offering a range of the finest leather in a wide variety of colours and finishes, we can meet the exacting needs of the modern designer.

Our goal is to maintain a sustainable business. Our parent company, Scottish Leather Group, is setting standards for sustainability within the leather sector as evidenced by our investments, performance and recognition through accreditations gained. Our product footprint is measured using Life Cycle Analysis.
Major investments in membrane water treatment technology for water recycling and the Thermal Energy Plant, which is recovering heat from waste, have reduced the company’s impact on the environment. These initiatives are also addressing some of the major threats to our long-term future, such as the reduction in available landfill sites and the declining availability of fossil fuel. Benefits will be derived ultimately through mitigation of the effects of rising landfill and energy costs.

Orders from our stock ranges placed before 12pm are despatched the same day to the UK mainland for next day delivery.
An individual swatch sample in any of the colours shown can also be ordered online, via email, or by contacting the sales office.
muirhead.co.uk offers online sampling as well as a range of other services, including contact details for your nearest representative and a valuable insight into the markets we currently supply, as well as general company information.
As leather is a natural product, each and every hide is unique in its characteristics, shape and size. With Muirhead only sourcing hides from the UK and Ireland, the average hide size is larger than those from further afield and will be approximately 4.7m2 or 50.6ft2. As this is an average there will of course be some hides that are smaller and larger than 4.7m2.
