I used a different wire because the wire they wanted me to use did not come in my science kit. I made note of it in my

observations and materials list.

Here is what the ends of my wore look like after I have stripped the coating off.

A look at my wire coil.

Step # 4: My paper clip cradle. The heavier your paper clips the better they work.

Step #5: Make sure when you place your paper clip in the battery holder it is touching the ends of the battery. You want electrons to

flow through your paper clips.

Use your needle nose pliers to squeeze the ends of it together and keep your paper clip in place.

I had to make my wore coil smaller and the ends shorter to fir my paper clip cradle. Do not be afraid to make adjustments to your materials as you go.

Just remember to include that in your observations.

When you make your compassPlatform remember to have your wire coil parallel with

your compass platform.

My bar magnets taped together. North with North and South with South.

Be very careful when you paint your wire. I got too much on and had to use the sand paper and my fingernail to remove it

from the bottom.

My wire coil was not rigid enough, and was too heavy to make a

complete turn. (Made those notes in observations). But I did see the

wire coil respond when I placed my magnet near it. It responded

differently when I used the North and the South end.
