Umbrella Summer

Summary• Annie Richards has been afraid of everything since

her older brother Jared died; not a while ago I February ,and now she is being extra cautious because she doesn’t want to catch what rare heart disease, Jared had. Annie has now wanted answers to all the sicknesses in the world so she can be aware. Annie has found this big green book that she took from her best friends dad. After a while Annie has a new neighbor that has moved across the street. Mrs. Finch. And both her and her best friend Rebecca thinks that it is a haunted house. What will happen to both Annie and Rebecca?

Setting

• Umbrella Summer is located in the average town/neighborhood (it is not shared where in the book). It is being taken at the beginning and middle of summer in till Jared’s birthday.

Rising Action

• When they get a new neighbor, Mrs. Finch comes into the story and teaches her to not worry so much about dying.

Falling Action

• The falling action is when Annie and Rebecca aren't friends anymore. So Annie starts going to Mrs. Finch advice

Resolution

• The resolution is when Annie learns how to close her umbrella and forget all about the sadness and depression and move out into the blue and sunny skies of summer.. So now Annie has learn from her mistakes in doing the things that she did and having a little more fun instead of worrying more about being careful. And things just happen for a reason.

Science Connection

• In the book Annie is always reading books on all disease and sicknesses. She is afraid that she will get some sort of disease and is over protective after her brother dies of a very rare incurable heart disease.
