What is Green Economy?

Green Economy is an

economic

model

based on sustainable

development and

knowledge of

ecological economies.

We can define green economy as based on:

Renewable energy Green buildings Sustainable

transport Water management Land management

Renewable energy

Renewable energy comes

from resources which

are continually

replenished such as

sunlight, wind, rain,

tides, waves,

geothermal heat and

waste.

Solar energy

Solar energy applies energy from the sun in the form of solar radiation to heat or to generate electricity. Solar powered electricity generation uses either photovoltaic or heat engines .

Geothermal energy

Geothermal energy is from thermal energy generated and stored in the Earth. Thermal energy is the energy that determines the temperature of matter.

Wind power

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as the one used with the turbines to make electrical power.

Biomasses

Biomasses are renewable energy sources, because the energy they contain comes from the sun. Biomasses function as sorts of natural batteries to store the solar energy contained in plants.

Hydropower

Energy in water can be harnessed and used. Since water is about 800 times denser than air, even a slow flowing stream of water, or moderate sea swell, can yield considerable amounts of energy.

Green buildingsA green building, also known

as green construction or

sustainable building,

refers to a structure which

uses a process that is

environmentally

responsible and

resource-efficient.

Sustainable transport

Sustainable transport refers to the broad subject of transport that is or approaches being sustainable. It includes vehicles, energy, infrastructures, roads, railways, airways, waterways, canals, pipelines, and terminals.

Water management

Water resource management

is the activity of planning,

developing, distributing and

managing the optimum use

of water resources. It is a

subset of water cycle management.

Water cycle

Land management

Land management is the process of managing the use and development (in both urban and rural settings) of land resources.

Environmental policy refers to the

commitment of an organization to the

laws, regulations, and other policy

mechanisms concerning environmental

issues and sustainability.
