Since Tzu Chi started the cadaver donation program

in 1995, over 16,000 people have signed up to

donate their bodies post-mortem. Tzu Chi performs a

memorial service to pay the utmost respect for these

“Silent Mentors.”

The Story of Lea and Rachel

2003 – Lea and Rachel, conjoined at the

chest and heart and both with cleft palates,

are born in the Philippines and taken to Tzu

Chi General Hospital in Taiwan for a

successful separation.
