Letter from the MCA PresidentLetter from the MCA PresidentLetter from the MCA PresidentLetter from the MCA President As we say goodbye to 2013, I want to thank our Mundy
kids (and parents) for making Kids Korner so special.
The students took such pride and pleasure in picking out
that “perfect gift.” I feel so privileged that I got to share
in their excitement. Thank you to Chris Baskerville for
bringing this great event to our school.
The Holiday Fair was also a huge success, thanks to our
whole Mundy community, especially Eric Gonzales and
the Room Parents! The Dessert Auction was a fun new
addition. Thank you to the Rote Family for the awe-
some Dessert Wars Display!
Proceeds from the Fair purchased 20 new Chrome Books
and will also be used to start planning the 5th Bi-Annual
Denim & Diamonds Auction, which will be held on No-
vember 15, 2014.
Our first Family Fun Event of 2014 will be Movie Night.
We will be featuring Despicable Me 2. We promise to
have more pizza and will be moving concessions to the
foyer in order to have more viewing area. In return, we
are asking, if you can, please park unused strollers in the
music room for safe keeping.
Thank you Everyone for a great 2013. Our MCA is gear-
ing up for an awesome new year.

Happy New Year Mundy Families!
Our amazing teachers have been working hard to jump right into full implementation of Common Core State
Standards (CCSS). They spent an entire day mapping out the rest of the year, weeding through the old stan-
dards, creating formative assessments aligned with the Common Core standards are more. We are EXCITED to
get CCSS fully implemented at Mundy and see how our students con-
tinue to grow! Want to know what the differences and what some of
the commonly asked questions are? Take a look: http://

Our technology on campus continues to grow! Students bringing their own devices
such as Chrome Books, iPads, iPods, Kindles, and iPhones to answer research ques-
tions, create reports, search for up-to-date information, and complete formative assessments! They are even
learning to code! This so exciting and our teachers know that our students must be 21st Century learners in
order to keep up with the rest of the world! Take a look at a great clip regarding 21st Century learning and
why it’s so important: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ax5cNlutAys
We continue to focus on specific character traits for our Student of the Month program. You may have seen
the new colorful posters around campus reminding our students of great character traits they should follow.
Look for postcards in the mail from your teacher and from me for an invitation to a special lunch if your stu-
dent is nominated!
We are revisiting student goals this month to ensure that our students are on track with the goals that they set
for themselves at the beginning of the school year. Look for the updates in the front office by the end of the
month!
Please stop by our website at nmes.fsusd.org and see all of the information that Mrs. Chase has put on there!
There are ways to support our school, the weekly newsletter, the Million-AR club, our Twitter feed, MCA up-
dates and more! It is a WEALTH of information!! If you are still not receiving my weekly updates with im-
portant information, monthly calendar, and much more, please be sure to email me at KristenC@fsusd.org .
We are well into our fantastic school year and hope everyone has a great 2014!

How long have you been teaching?
I’ve been working in education since I graduated for UCD in 2010. Before coming to
Mundy, I was a Director of Education at Sylvian Learning Center, where I worked with
kids in all grades K-12.
What Inspired you to become a teacher?
I was inspired by some amazing teachers I had in elementary through high-school.
They were so important in my life. I’ve always wanted to become a teacher so I could
make that kind of positive difference in the lives of children.
Biography
I grew up in the San Jose area and attended UC Davis for both undergrad and grad school. I married my
husband Eric in 2012, and we moved to Cordelia this summer. It’s a little bit windy, be we love it here!
I’m crazy about animals; we have two dogs, a kitty, and a pair of guinea pigs. I’m training my younger
dog in the sport of “agility.” I also love to read, play board games with friends, and visit the beach.
Favorites
My favorite colors are green and silver. My favorite beverage is an iced mocha. My favorite mythologi-
cal creature is the unicorn.
Words of Wisdom
