The Jesus Youth Jubilee conference 2010 brings together the largest ever
group of Jesus Youth from around the world. A milestone in an eventful
journey, the conference becomes a platform where a host of graces and
blessings congregate. If you are a Jesus Youth or have been associated
with the movement, this is an invitation to this celestial celebration. An
invitation to part take of the seven spiritual treasures. An invitation to be
refined, renewed and radiant in His love.
For a movement that began in the everyday lives of ordinary people,
this has been a terrific journey. And the Jubilee Conference offers us an
opportunity to share the laughter and retell the stories. Lets listen.
Let’s hold a hand. Let’s search and find. Let’s smile. Let’s sing an old
song or recall a forgotten joke. Let’s share an experience of God’s love
or say a prayer. There’s a lot to do at the Jubilee Conference as we
reconnect with our family. Perhaps we’ll also discover that
reconnecting with our brothers and sisters is the best way to reconnect
with our God in a fresh new way.
TWO
BUILDING
NEW BRIDGES
Imagine Jesus Youth from 25 countries gathering together in one
place. Cambodia. Australia. Thailand. Europe. United States. Middle
East. Wherever. Imagine all of us united in one Jesus Youth lifestyle.
Imagine how wonderful it would be to take a peek into lives vastly
different from ours. Then imagine at least two different generations
and their different lifestyles. Imagine how beautiful it would be to
connect with each other across our age barriers, language or culture.
On second thoughts. why imagine at all, when we can experience it for
real at the Jubilee Conference?
TWO
BUILDING
NEW BRIDGES
In a very gracious gesture, the Church has granted indulgence to everyone
who participates in the Jubilee conference in its entireity. Cardinal Rylko, one
of the Church’s most revered personages will be present at the conference.
Over 35 renowned resource persons and Bible Scholars will lead the 50 odd
sessions across seven streams - Youth, Families, Religious, Teens, Pre Teens
and kids. The Word of God will be preached in all relevant contexts and
perspectives. The only thing asked of each of us would be to open our hearts
and make the journey into His depths.
For the first time perhaps, this Jesus Youth conference brings together over 10
international speakers on the same platform. Yet, it is not the fact that they are
internationally renowned that makes the difference, but the reality that each
one of these speakers - from the erudite Cardinal Rylko of Vatican to the
dynamic Mark Nimo from Ghana - are close to the heart of the global church of
today. From them, we will catch the pulse of the Church in today’s world. From
their experiences and mission, we will see how we can move with Jesus in ways
that are relevant. Through them, we’ll encounter our mission.
In different countries Jesus Youth musicians are already preparing. 200
musicians will minister to the conference in five days. Three different
bands are preparing to play. A dozen music ministries are being chosen
to lead people into praise. Full fledged theatre productions are being
prepared. Globally renowned Christian guest artists are being invited.
Set designers are busy planning out the the three gigantic stages.
Bring nothing with you except your praises to God.
You’ll surely need tons of it.
As we know, the essence of Jesus Youth is not about the doctrine, the
theology or the theory. It is about the experience of living together. All
of our experiences begin in the homes of that sheltered us, on the
roads that we travelled together, in the hardships endured together, in
the food or the hunger that we shared and above all, in the mission
that we have in common. Across five days, The Jubilee Conference will
be the largest Jesus Youth community experience ever. Come live the
JY life.
Besides a milestone, the Jubilee for each one of us, is also a crossroad. We
arrive with questions about our future directions. We seek answers. We look
out for signs. For the movement, as well as our personal mission. And here,
in the laughter of our friends, in the words of the songs, in the heart of the
scripture, in the roar of the crowds, in the silence of adoration, we know
we’ll hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. The signs are out there. All we need to
do is to be there too.
