3Tuckman’s Group Development (Norming)

The group enters Norming stage as members begin to understand each other better. They start to acknowledge each individual’s talent, skills, expertise and experiences. Constructive feedbacks are given to one another on work and personal matters. The group is in harmony and trust starts to grow.

In this phase, members’ morale, confidence and commitment rises. They start to have open debates, negotiation and have consensus in decision making. Roles and responsibilities are agreed upon as they could utilize their talents and expertise to complete the tasks at hand. Teamwork begins to develop and the group is focused on reaching their goals.

Having synergy and teamwork, members start to feel being part of the group and are interdependent. Members can now handle tasks smoothly and group productivity is increased. Group can keep their attention on reaching their goals. Leaders would need to continue monitoring and reinforcing the group.
