In the universe of architectural
materials, there are but a handful
that consistently elevate design
Undoubtedly, Fabricoil is
one such material.
Welcome to Cascade Architectural, your
source for the building material that’s
transforming architectural design, inside and
out – Fabricoil. Crafted from interlocking
strands of coiled wire to form sheets of
flexible metal fabric, Fabricoil is simple in
its manufacture, yet shines brilliantly in
its abundantly diverse applications. This
brochure includes many fine examples
of what ambitious and uncompromising
design professionals achieve when their
imaginations are unleashed with Fabricoil.
Whether protecting from falls, maintaining
cooler and more comfortable spaces, or
merely defining spaces, architects and
designers quickly discover that Fabricoil is
not only up to the task, but does it with far
more flair and intrigue. Best of all, Fabricoil’s
quality and price point provide value
unmatched by traditional woven metal mesh
with which it is often compared. This makes
Fabricoil perfect for any project – even those
with modest budgets. So go ahead. Dive
in to the world of fabulous and affordable
Fabricoil today and let Cascade Architectural
help you express your creative vision.

Efficient
functions in myriad applications – both
exterior and interior. Howerver, a major
advantage Fabricoil has over mesh is its
affordability, due to its efficient design and
speedy manufacturing process. All Fabricoil
weaves share the same fundamental
geometry created by interlocking individual
strands of spiraled wire. What varies widely is
Fabricoil’s scale. The scale you select impacts
the material’s percentage of open area (from
40 to 85%), textured appearance, thickness
(from 3/32” to 5/8”), and ultimate strength.

Fabricoil architectural systems
creatively and affordably serve
numerous functions in both exterior
and interior options.
The functions of Fabricoil are limited only by
the ingenuity and imagination of architects
and designers working in collaboration
with Cascade Architectural. In fact, every
Fabricoil material choice, design option,
and attachment system offered today, is
credited to a visionary architect or designer
who saw new functional potential reflected
“ The design objective was to create
a hall that engages the entire
community. An art installation
features colored lights that are
choreographed and projected
onto a series of sheer metal
curtains, or scrims, to literally
draw the art out of the building.”
Seattle Opera
A soaring two-story tall Fabricoil
system transforms the front entrance
to this iconic Seattle opera house.
Suspended vertically with stainless
cable, the series of Fabricoil scrims
provide patron-pleasing shade during
sunny days. Then at night, as the
stars come out, the same panels
come alive with ever shifting colored
light. An unforgettable signature
look for a 21st century music hall,
compliments of Fabricoil.
Fabricoil is the uncommon material
of choice for many common exterior
applications. Fabricoil exterior systems
feature robust corrosion resistant materials
and finishes, along with attachment
hardware engineered to withstand the
environmental loads they’ll encounter.

Fabricoil today, or dream up your own.

Quenching A Red-Hot Desert Sun
A shimmering, multi-panel Fabricoil
system adds intricate texture and
passive solar shading to the Albert
Armendariz, Sr. United States
Courthouse. Held in tension like an
ancient scroll over a great expanse
of glass curtainwall, each panel
contributes to modern-day energy-
saving standards by reflecting and
filtering sunlight to reduce solar
heat gain. In fact, third-party
energy simulation testing proves
that exterior Fabricoil solar shading
systems like this can reduce building
energy consumption up to 21.3%.

“ It hangs like fabric and has a
very distinctive three-dimensional
aspect that you really cannot get
with other woven meshes,” Fehlau
says, “This allows you to suspend
it from the top with a very simple
detail and just let it drape, as
compared to other meshes that
need additional support to keep
them in plane. There really isn’t
anything else like it.”

adds perfect polish and dashes of
glamour throughout TwoRuba’s
sophisticated interior. It starts at
the bar and lounge’s “storefront”

distinctively divide space without
disrupting flow – something ordinary
walls or partitions could never do.
Segmented areas offer tempting

When you enter the 10,000-square-
foot Microsoft Visitor Center, it feels
like a theater of possibilities – or as
the project architect, SkB Architects,
explains it, “Microsoft aimed to
create a public space that would
illuminate the humanity behind their
technology.” Hands-on exhibits of
technologies for home and business
is one of many features for visitors
to enjoy – and the Center can
be used as a gathering space for
company events.
Upon arrival, visitors are directed
towards a large, suspended orb
into the interactive space. A fluidity
and sense of “movement” is
subtly suggested by the curvilinear
Fabricoil system that gently defines
space and provides an illuminating
surface for ambient light – a
combined effect that itself says,
“Welcome.”

A continuous angle and rod support affixed with exposed eyebolts and hardware. A tensioned cable secures and bookends the Fabricoil panel to maintain the appropriate rigidity.
A slotted rectangular tube supports the top and bottom of the Fabricoil panel, coupled with a cover plate on the front-facing beams. Inside, the Fabricoil panel wraps around a steel rod, holding the panel in tension.
A top support tube, straight or curved, supports the Fabricoil panel. Panels are secured to the tubes using bolted plates, effectively “sandwiching” the Fabricoil within.
An aluminum flanged channel at the top and bottom secures the horizontal oriented Fabricoil panel.
Framed Fabricoil panels on four sides with welded angles. The front-facing side of the framing is flat while the back-facing side is flanged inward and secured with bolts.
Takes advantage of an existing beam structure to which it is attached. A continuous steel angle is thru-bolted at the top and bottom of the Fabricoil panel to hold it in place.

Featuring a low profile aluminum channel, the pleated or taut Fabricoil panel glides freely during operation using nylon carriers.
Continuous galvanized or stainless steel L-shaped supports attached back-to-back at the top and bottom. Fabricoil panels are held in tension by exposed bolts where the supports meet.
Featuring a curvable aluminum I-Beam track, the pleated or taut Fabricoil panel glides freely during operation using exposed nylon-wheeled carriers.
Three options to achieve uninterrupted, angular junctures for Fabricoil panels: a steel angle frame with capture pins; a steel round tube with coil wraps; or a steel square tube with capture hooks.
A curvable aluminum, galvanized or stainless steel channel uses thru-bolts top and bottom to secure the rigid Fabricoil panel.
A slotted stainless steel round tube, of varying diameters, on the top and bottom with end caps. The Fabricoil panel is wrapped around a horizontal stainless steel rod, holding the panel in tension.
A horizontal tube with continuous thru-bolted plates on the top and bottom. The plates hold Fabricoil panels so that their fullness is exact and consistent.
Featuring stainless steel slotted tubes with spring-assisted brackets, the Fabricoil panel maintains constant tension over long spans.
