Welcome to week 6 of Sophmore Group Guidance

Today’s Objective

• Know current graduation requirements• Using your transcript, you will be able to

update your graduation status• Using information on PowerSchool, you

will accurately update your Personal Learning Plan

Materials for today’s lesson

• Your transcript• A pen or pencil• Graduation checklist• Laptop• PowerSchool

Transcript

• When I hand you your transcript, please do not share it with anyone else.

• You will need to follow along as I go over the graduation requirements.

• Check off on the Graduation Checklist, the requirements you have completed so far.

Graduation Status

• Should be at about 85 credits now • Check service learning total - should have

at least 30 hours• Class rank - does that “fit” with post high

school goals?• Competencies

Update your personal learning plan (PLP)

• Get out your laptop, if you have it.• If you do not, you will need to do this at

home.

• Login to Powerschool

• When you log in to PowerSchool, click on “Class Registration”:

• Next, click on “View Future Course Requests”:

• Elective = 1st semester, Alternate = 2nd Semester.

•Log in to nebraskacareerconnections.org•mmccann + powerschool id•powerschool password•CLICK ON - Educational Planning (tab on top)•CLICK ON - Personal Learning Plans ( on left )•CLICK ON the (pencil / edit button )

Update PLP

• Check your courses listed for 11th grade in your PLP against what is in PowerSchool.

• Make sure full-year courses, such as American Lit, are listed twice.

• Make sure you have all your electives.

Assignment

• Make sure to be working on your Sophomore Guidance Writing Assignment for next week.

• You can download it from the wiki page.

Writing Assignment Goals

• Long term - must be at least 6 months in future

• Short term - specific and measurable

• What is your motivation?

Short Term Goals

• Example:

• I am going to study 5/7 nights each week for an hour right after school.

Long Term Goals

• Example:

• I will increase my cumulative high school GPA to at least a 3.50 by the end of junior year.
