How can the Israelis keep their contented cows with no

fences? The dairy cows have fences, but so often we see cows along

the highways without fences, as we did here on our way to Mt. Car-

mel.

The prophet, Elijah, knew this territory well. On the top of

these gardenlike mountains, he met the 450 prophets of Baal (I Kings

18).

The coming kingdom is likened to the excellence of Carmel

(Isaiah 35:2), the meaning of which is fruitful field, park, or garden.

Israel shall possess this land for ever and ever (Is. 34:17), and shall

be a blessing (Zechariah 8:13). A slogan that we see in Israel is,

“America, don’t worry! Israel is behind you!”
