North American Invasive Plant Mapping Standards were approved by the North American Weed Management Association (NAWMA) in May of 2002. These standards were endorsed by Federal

Interagency Committee for the Management of Noxious and Exotic Weeds, National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Geological Survey and at

least 10 U.S. States. Both EDDMapS and IPCConnect are fully compatible with NAWMA Mapping Standards and were designed using these standards. The University of Georgia - Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health is currently developing a revision of the standards to include standard

language for additional data fields and a similar standard for smartphone apps for collected mapping invasive plants. As development of IPC Web Solutions continues compatibility with all current and future standards will be maintained.
