(Operational Wind Speed Shutdown)
Reference: Tower Crane Code of Practice 2006. Section 6.1.4 Wind Speed Conditions. Maximum permissible operational wind speed of 54km/hr (15 meters/second).
• Pre start to cover the weather conditions expected for the day i.e. BOM.
• Finish immediate operational lift when wind speed is recorded at 54km/hr.
• Wind speed blowing at a consistent 54km/ hr.• Notify PCBU/Site Delegate/Health and Safety Rep.• Shut crane down until the wind subsides to less
than 54km’s.• If wind speed does not subside less than 54km/
hrs work will cease for the day.

Reference: Section 19 Primary Duty Holder Work Health and Safety Act. PCBU must ensure so far as reasonably practicable
their employees health and safety.

WORK METHOD STATEMENT
Reference: Work Health and Safety Regulations section 299.
• All Loads are prohibited from being lifted unless covered by the crane crews work method statement.
• Notify PCBU/Site Delegate/Health and Safety Rep if the load is not covered by the Crane Crews work method statement.
• Crane Crew/Site Delegate/Health and Safety Rep/PCBU to develop a work method statement for the load to be lifted.
• Crane Crew to be inducted into that work method statement.
• Crane Crew then can complete the task of lifting the load.
