Boat trip over the rivers and channels of the city The Hermitage is one of the biggest museums of the world, its vast collections include masterpieces of ancient, Renaissance and modern artists as well as the precious objects from all over the world. The Hermitage is a jewel box of the city and we would open it during our visit; St. Petersburg is also called “Venice of the North” due to the quantity of rivers and channels in the city, there are over 300 bridges, some 20 of them can be raised to let the large ships through. The basin of this somewhat circular lake was formed by meteorite impact 700 million years ago during the Cryogenian period. The crater is 14 kilometers in diameter. Day 9 Island Valaam: 1. The Valley of Geysers is a unique natural site located in the Kronotsky Reserve

in a vast gorge and the river Geysernaya flows along it. All forms of geothermal

activity can be found here within 6 kilometers, including active pulsing boiling

springs, hot lakes, mud pots, and small volcanoes, steam jets, hot fields, and, of

course, geysers. Diameter of the biggest geyser Velikan (“Giant”) is up to 3

meters; the blast of water while erupting reaches 30 meters height.

Karymsky volcano (1536 m) is located in the central part of the Eastern volcanic

belt of Kamchatka. Nowadays it is one of the most active volcanoes in the world

with 20 eruptions for the last 215 years. The latest eruption started on

2nd January 1996 and is still going on. Each 5-15 minutes it throws out gas and

ash 300-1000 meters above its crater.

During the river rafting you will have an unforgettable experience of combining a

physical activity with sightseeing and fishing. An experienced instructor will

accompany you throughout all the river trip and instruct you on the safety rules.

Here you could go fishing (Arctic Char, Rainbow Trout, Salmon, Grayling) for all

your prey will be cooked specially for you on the way. Back to the recreation

base you could enjoy swimming in a pool with thermal water.

3. Night in a base camp

An interesting excursion to the Mutnovskiy volcano with the best sightseeing

and outdoors activity accompanied by professional guides and instructors.

You will see the volcano Ksudach (1,079 m) – a monument of nature, a truncated

cone with a bowl 18 by 22 kilometers, depth of 600 meters.

For those who would choose the optional excursion to Kurilskoye lake (1,5 hr) by

helicopter, there will open a wonderful view over salmon and bears, in their

natural habitat. You will also fly by helicopter to stop for a bathe in the thermal

hot water of the Khodutka river. Khodutka hot springs contain a large amount of

silicic acid and are considered to be the best natural treatment.

Then you will fly back to the volcanic plateau at the foot of Mutnovsky volcano

and set up a tent base camp.

The trekking will take about 3-4 hours but that will give you an unforgettable

experience. The path goes across vast perennial snowfields and a narrow canyon

Mutnovsky volcano (2323 m) is one of the biggest volcanoes in the south of

Kamchatka. A majestic picture of an active crater will open to you from the top

of the volcano. After the latest earthquake of 2000, a huge glacier in the crater

of Mutnovsky volcano partially melted, forming a crater lake of deep-turquoise

color. It freezes in winter and melts in late July, stripping its surface from the

shield ice.

The boat-trip will take approximately 6 hours when you will have a chance to

watch the marine birds, sea fish, seals, kalans (sea otter), fur seals and perhaps

as red-faced cormorant, glaucous-winged gull, fulmar, tufted puffin, pigeon

guillemot and many others. These islands are also the place of habitat for a rare

sea-eagle, the biggest eagle in the world. All this and a majestic panorama of

Avacha bay with a crown of Viluchinsky volcano top will leave in your heart an

incredible impression!

famous grandfather of Pushkin and companion of tsar Peter the Great.

Sviatogirski monastery is one of the largest and richest monastery of that time,

here is the tomb of the Russian great poet A. Pushkin.

Pskov still preserves much of its medieval walls, built from the 13th century on.

By the 14th century, the town functioned as the capital of a de-facto sovereign

the Hanseatic League. Within the walls of the Kremlin rises the 78 m-tall Trinity

Cathedral, founded in 1138 and rebuilt in the 1690s. Pskov is exceedingly rich in

tiny, squat, picturesque churches, dating mainly from the 15th and the 16th

centuries.
