Setup
• Choose how many letters you will have in your grid and create questions for them all.
• Teacher assigns 4 or more tornados to the letters on their own piece of paper.
• Put students into groups of 6 or more.• Show the students the final formation of the house with 6 people.
If there are more students; 2 can extend the roof and the rest can go inside the house.
• The first team chooses a letter and all the teams write/draw the answer.
• The first team to finish says TORNADO. • If the team answers correctly, one member can make the first
piece of the house.• If they answer incorrectly, it goes to the second fastest team.• If however, the letter is a TORNADO letter and they answered
correctly they can choose to throw the tornado on any other team. • A tornado means another team loses one piece of their house.
That member has to rejoin their team. If no house has been built, the team can save their tornado to use when they want.
• The first team to build a house 6 man house wins.
• Activity name: Tornado
• Objectives: To compete against other teams to answer as many questions correctly about weather and countries to build a house of campers.
• Target language: Types of weather and country names.
