Leslie went to her favorite place to eat. When she got there she noticed 22 cars in the parking lot.

Then 88 more cars pulled into the parking lot.

Now how many cars are in the parking lot?

Let’s talk about it! What is your

answer and how did you find it?

Now you will need……

• A pencil

• 12 snapcubes

• A building map

• A 1-10 spinner

Let’s take a look at the building map

How do you think we could use numbers with it?

Today we are going to use it to record how some numbers are connected.

Let’s do one together!

First we need a number.

I’ll spin the spinner to get a number.

Now let’s build a model with 2 snap cubes.

2

Look at the top of the building.

2

What is it telling us to do?

So we need to add 1 more cube to our model.

2

Write a 3 in the window next to the 2.

2 3

Try and finish the +1 building now.

BUT REMEMBER…

Once you spin a number and put it in a window - you CAN’T use it again on that side of the building.

When you finish the +1 building, try the +2

building.

If you finish early….Choose one: Use more snap cubes and try to find

more numbers that are connected by +1 or +2. Write down the connections in your journal.

Play an addition folder game.
