Dear KAPOS Family and Friends,
On behalf of the KAPOS organization, I’d like to welcome everyone to Alltech Arena for the Middle and Elementary School State Cheerleading Championships! Today will be fi lled with excitement as you watch these young athletes display their abilities while performing the routines that they have worked so hard on.
KAPOS has been honoring and working with Kentucky cheerleaders and coaches for the last 62 years, being the fi rst coaches’ association in the nation. After KHSAA took over the high school championships four years ago, KAPOS wanted to put the spotlight on the younger girls and boys who are developing programs at the Middle and Elementary Levels.
During the morning session the Large and Super Large teams will be alternating performances before crowning those two State Champions. Following those awards, the Large and Small Elementary Teams, Small and Medium Middle School Teams will be alternating in the afternoon session. There will be four places awarded to each of the six divisions.
A huge thank you goes out to all the coaches, parents, grandparents, and friends of these squad members for all the time devoted and for enabling these girls and boys to pursue their desire of being a cheerleader.
And fi nally, I want to remind everyone that good sportsmanship is a part of winning and losing. We will only crown six State Champions today but all teams deserve to be recognized for their hard work and dedication as they are all winners In their own right as they have progressed throughout this process.
Good Luck to all teams today and remember cheerleading is fi rst and foremost about leading your fans at the games, supporting your school teams, raising school spirit, and being great role models for your schools.
