PBS member station, KNPB, serving northern Nevada and northeastern California, is proud to take part in the KNPB PBS KIDS Writers Contest.
Few things can capture a child’s imagination like a good book. KNPB PBS KIDS Writers Contest invites children, kindergarten through third grade, in communities across our area to use their boundless imaginations to create original stories and illustrations and then submit them to their local PBS station. This year, thousands of children from northern Nevada and northeastern California participated in the KNPB PBS KIDS Writers Contest, building their creative voices, and developing critical reading and writing skills.
Visit our website at knpb.org/writerscontest to find out more about the contest, read the winning stories and watch the winners announce their stories.

Hi Parrot fans. I am going to tell you
about my life as a parrot. There are more than
370 species of parrots, and I am one of them!!
10 11
I live in warm areas, and I sit in the canopy of
the rainforest where I eat fruits, flowers, and insects.
My favorite food is seeds. I can kiss people and ride bikes
and can count and mimic and I can dance.
12 13
I have a cool curved beak and strong legs.
I am one of the colorful birds with pretty colors.
I am smart (super-duper smart). I am a nice and cute bird.
14 15
My little chicks remain blind for the first two weeks of their lives. I can be a pet.
16 17
Thank you for reading my book. Have a nice day!
I will curl my toes around a branch and enjoy the rest of my day!
