FUSING DESIGN ELEMENTS

The Aim is to merge the various design elements that will make up a

comprehendible and enjoyable play. The elements include, Costumes,

Setting and Lighting Design. These elements will be used to Shape the

Spines and Steward the Themes of the Play.

The spine revolves round a

privileged woman, banished from

the court that goes to the forest in

search for the apple of her eyes.

In disguise of a man, she nurtures

the people around on how to

blossom from their weaknesses in

other to make reasonable

decisions in their lives so the

returners eventually become

better than when they fled to the

forest.

SPINE OF THE PLAY

This is one part of the spine of the play that sets it rolling where the

fight scene takes place.• The Light Design is needed and set in such a way that The fight

scene brings out a unique mood as it established in between and different from a forest or palace scene.

• The lights need to be a dimmer than the palace scene lighting on with corresponding flashing lights set on the stage.

• The Setting Design has to be a mix of both realistic and non realistic scenery with flowery decorations with the impression it is in front of the Palace.

The Costume will be restricted to that of the Shakespearian era, Duke

in Military formal Costume, Men in Restricted High-class dressing.

Orlando and Charles wear Forest Costumes, similar to hunting Gears

while the women wear a flowing Gown Costume.

LAWN BEFORE THE PALACE

THE FOREST – ACT 5: SCENE 4

• this is the finally scene of the entire play where the themes fruits are

reaped from Rosalinda’s labor

• Here there's a wedding scene comprising of two marriages in the forest as

well as the announcement of Duke Fredrick’s abdication.

THE FOREST – ACT 5: SCENE 4 DESIGN ELEMENTS

For the Costume Setting: Duke Senior remains in Forest

Costumes while every other man is dressed in Linen and

cotton shirts. The women wear Muslim flowing gowns.

The Light Setting: Has to be very pale, to reflect what the

forest really symbolizes, freedom as well as the occasion for

the day.

The Set Design: For main forest scenes, actual large tree

props are to used along with the drop as well as decoration

using another drop of colorful floras.

DIRECTORIAL CONCEPT

It is a play about how human tendencies

could be flexible or can change within a

twinkle of an Eye. From a Vengeful Duke

returning to a Monastery to a Hateful elder

brother learning to love his younger one just

as they step into the forest of emancipation.

DIRECTORIAL CONCEPT CONT.

To Achieve Focus, Triangulation Focus will suit the major

characters for every other scene aside the wrestling and

wedding Event

The Director chooses grouping Focus for the Wedding

The Wrestling scene will have the actors aiming for a body

position focus.

DIRECTOR STYLEThe Idea of the Style has to be that of creative perspective –

allowing for the actor to be independent by making his/her

inputs while the Director has the final say after watching form

Different Angles. All these will be done while the acting

embraces a slow but rhythmic pace.
