THE YASHODA SINGH COLLECTION OF INDIAN COINS
This is a collection that I put together over a course of twenty-five years. When I entered college in my homecountry,India,Ibecameinterestedinoldcoins.Noone Iknewcollectedcoins.IaskedmyfatherifhehadanyandhegavemetwotinysilvercoinswithArabicorPersianscriptonthembelongingtooneoftheMuslimdynasties;Ihadthemmadeintocuff-links.ItwasgreatfashioninthosedaysinIndiatowearcuff-linksmadeoutofimitationMughalcoinsbutatthetimeonedidn’tknowwheretogotopurchaseIndiancoins.Therewerenocoinshows,nocoinauctions,nocoinmagazines,justjewelleryshopsthatmightcarrysome.WhenIcametotheUnitedStatesofAmericaIwenttolocalcoinshowsandfoundsomebeat-upIndiancoinsthatIboughtforafewcents.
