What is the Wizard’s Computer Club?

An afterschool technology and literacy program for children in grades 2-5

Focus:◦Building literacy skills◦Building technology skills◦Increasing self-confidence◦Providing a mentoring relationship with a university

student

What do children do at the Club?Participate in a specially designed learning

environment using computers.Progress through a virtual castle-like maze that

serves as a portal for educational websites.Explore the sites with you.

◦ Interact with a fictional Wizard. ◦You answer the children’s daily letters to the Wizard.

◦ OR interact with peers.

What would I be doing?Work with 2 students on a regular basis.Serve as a mentor and tutor as students explore

websites of interest.◦ Reading, math, social studies, science, health, music, art,

careers.NO extra knowledge required! You and your

children learn together.
