Welcoming Project

Yallaa is the delivery partner in a Consortium led by YMCA

Responsible for: Women Group, Children’s Saturday Club, Friendship Club, Children and Families outings and Cultural Celebrations

Women Group

Empower Syrian Women in their new community setting

Overcome isolation and help integration

Activities: Crafts, creative English, outings, sewing club with St Patrick’s

Saturday Club (4 to 16 Years)

Support children with English through creative Arts on a weekly basis

Outings to cinema, Island Arts Centre, Lisburn Bowling

Friendship Club

Weekly meeting to support Syrians build friends and socialise

Use games, magazines and newspapers to improve English skills

Discover parts of NI

Increase feeling of belonging

Trips to: Portrush, Ulster Folk Museum, Mount Stewart

Sharing Arab cultural events with local community
