Web Archiving Service Fees
• CDL will begin charging for Web Archiving Service activity beginning July 1, 2009
• Not a flat rate – charges are based on actual usage
• Basic cost is $1,500 per terabyte
• Does not include replicated content
For UC Campuses
• 1st Terabyte of storage is free
• 1st year of activity at 50% of cost
• 2nd year of activity at 75% of cost
• 3rd year at $1500 / TB (– 1 TB)
Example: UC Campus Library
• Go into July 1 2009 with 622 GB in WAS– Collect another 675 GB in fiscal year
2009/2010– June 30 2010: 1.26 TB– Charged for .26 TB at 50%: $195.00
• Collect 930 GB in 2010-2011– 1.16 TB chargeable storage (2.16 of data)– at 75% = $1305.00
What You Can Do
• Talk with the WAS administrator in your library if there are new web archiving projects you want to start
• Communicate with faculty, researchers when your archives are published
