Festive Greetings to all our Members
Well, what a year for Worcestershire Food & Drink. We’ve been busy recruiting new members and fine tuning our web site - a process which hasn’t always been plain sailing! However, the Members’ Area will be fully operational in the New Year, so do please tell us what you’d like to see on the site, and thanks for your support so far.
Right now, the priority for WF&D is to agree the aims of this, our inde-pendent trade association, to ensure its long term future. Those aims were drawn up by the Interim Board, and in early January, we’ll apply to become a Community Interest Company with all the benefits that offers. For now though, we NEED your views, so have a look at the aims over-leaf and drop us a line.
Finally, we’re planning a WF&D networking event at Pershore College on January 11th; a chance for us all to relax after a busy lead up to Christmas, and chat over a tea or coffee. It’s also a great opportunity for members to showcase products to other members, so we’d love you to bring along food and drink samples, so that we can all taste Worcester-shire’s finest creations. Business members can showcase their services too, although space for promotional literature is limited,. We’d love to see you there. There is no charge for this event, and we’ll send you fur-ther details by e-mail.
We hope you enjoy this Christmas issue of the Newsletter. The Worcestershire Food & Drink Project Team wishes you all a very suc-cessful Christmas season and a happy and prosperous 2019.

Do Your Product Labels Work
For You?
Labels are crucial to marketing, yet poor
product labelling means many business-
es end up paying the price.
‘The Labelling Showcase’ (March 2019)
is the first ever half-day event of its kind
and is organised by the Three Counties
Food & Drink Co Ltd, in partnership
with quality marques Worcestershire
Food & Drink, Eat Sleep Live Hereford-
shire and Cotswold Taste Ltd.
Speakers will cover: the essential ele-
ments required in labels, and regulatory
compliance, label design specification,
printing choices and how to stay on top
of the process in order to control costs
and results.
Graphic designers and label printers
from across the region will also be dis-
playing their products and services at an
accompanying mini-exhibition. Full de-
tails will be announced in early January
2019.

WRS Compliance Advice - Allergen Safety
Recent deaths and prosecutions linked to allergen con-tamination mean that many places serving the public need to do more. Consumers walking in to places on the High Street assume the food they eat is safe from aller-gens. The Food Standards Agency has warned that any business which has not carried out a risk assessment and knows how to issue appropriate advice cannot get a L5FHRS score.. From mid-December, you’ll find advice and a checklist on the WRS website www.worcsregservices.gov.uk..

In other news, Emily’s Jams & Pickles got a mention in the September issue of BBC Good Food, with Emily’s raspberry and chocolate jam, Luxury Hampers & Gifts launched a brand new website (www.luxuryhampersandgifts.co.uk) and were interviewed by BBC Hereford & Worcester and Poolbrook Café made the local press with its Christmas Day Menu for those who would otherwise be spending the day alone. Astley Vineyard’s wines were accepted by Webbs and Bottles, Worcester amongst others and, on a lighter note, Karen Meadows of Safety In Action won the #WorcestershireHour #WheresSqueegee Twitter competi-tion.. The challenge was to photograph City Sign’s squeegee in as many unusual places as possible.
