This month we will be featuring Brigitte R. as our Spotlight Resident of Open Mic Night who will tell a little about her life

Lost & Found/ Give & Take
Table Every first Thursday of
the month The collection of lost and found items will be put out on a table for the
residents of Lakeshore to look through. NEW
PART: There will be an additional table for
residents to bring down items they no longer
want, to set out and allow other residents to take.
There will be no money exchange for anything, it will simply be a way to get rid of things you no longer want or need. All of the leftover items will be donated to the local
salvation army at the end of the day.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas season. It was a magical time here at Lakeshore and we shared some great
events. Well, we are on our way to 2020. I can’t believe it. Lakeshore Senior Living will celebrate 2 years on January 3rd and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of this community.
We have had so many great events and created many friendships. I look forward to see what 2020 holds for all of us.
Welcome to our new residents to Lakeshore. I hope you will enjoy your new home.
For all residents, please remember that if you are having any flu like symptoms, colds, coughs, fevers, sore throat etc. to remain in your apartment until 48 hours after you are feeling well. I am
hoping we stay germ free this winter. Fingers crossed.

Lakeshore’s Art Show Thursday, January 30th 2pm-3:30pm
It is time to show off all of the talent that Lakeshore's residents have! We want all of you artists to bring your masterpieces down to the main hall to put on display for all to see. Your works of art can be, but
are not limited to, paintings, sculptures, quilts, blankets, drawings, woodworking projects, poems, and more! Please sign
up at the front desk by Friday, January 24th to reserve your spot in the show! Please limit your pieces to 5
items max in order to save space for everyone.

Departure: 10:00AM Pick Up: 1:30PM Take a ride to MGM Casino! Residents will need to bring their own spending money. We will be there through our lunch hours so please
be prepared to buy a lunch or bring a lunch with you.
Sea Life Aquarium and Lunch at Rainforest Café Wednesday, January 15th
Departure: 10:00AM Estimated Return: ~2:00PM Spend an afternoon with your neighbors exploring the depths of the ocean via a walk through the Sea Life Aquarium, followed by lunch
with a tropical scenery at the Rainforest Café. It will be an adventurous afternoon that you will not want to miss. Your ticket to the aquarium will be paid for by Lakeshore, but please bring your
own spending money for lunch.
Grosse Pointe Theater: Guys and Dolls Play Thursday, January 16th
Departure: 6:45PM Estimated Return: ~10:00PM Guys and Dolls takes us from the heart of Times Square to the cafes
of Havana, Cuba, in this oddball romantic comedy of gambler, Nathan Detroit, and his club performer girlfriend, Adelaide, chasing money, avoiding the authorities, and various other adventures along
the way. Tickets will be $21 due Friday, January 9th to the front desk.
Detroit Historical Museum Wednesday, January 22nd
Departure: 9:30AM Estimated Return: ~1:00PM Take a trip with us to the great Detroit Historical Museum for a
guided tour. The tour will be $8 per person due on the day of. Please sign up in the bus trip book by January 8th if you plan on attending.

Strength & Balance: This class is designed for the more active senior whose goal is to improve balance through core strengthening. This class is performed standing using strength and balance equipment.
Fitness Fusion: Using hand weights, resistance tubing, exercise balls and/or your own body weight, this advanced class is for active seniors who want to maintain or increase muscle strength/endurance & increase bone density while benefiting from aerobic exercise.
FUNctional Fitness: Strength, balance, and cardio exercises that help strengthen your muscles while improving ROM, flexibility, joint mobility, balance/coordination and sensory/motor skills.
Arthritis Exercise: This evidence-based class is proven to help ease the pain associated with Arthritis. Improve ROM, endurance, and flexibility.
Drum Ball Beat: Have fun being in the moment while decreasing anxiety, improving joint mobility, posture, muscular strength, and endurance.
Muscles in Motion: Exercises that help maintain & improve muscular strength and endurance, maintain & increase bone density while reducing the risk of chronic conditions.
Chair Yoga: This class’s focus is on deep breathing techniques, gentle movements and flexibility while relaxing to calming music to reduce stress.

Bus Trip Information!
Group Outings
Each month we will have a set of bus trips planned for all residents of Lakeshore Senior Living. These trips will change
each month to bring on new experiences and destinations! If you would like to attend a planned bus trip please sign up at
the concierge desk located at the main entrance prior to departure. If we see that no residents have signed up for a set trip, it may be cancelled to open up the bus schedule for other
opportunities.
Independent Bus Trip Appointments: Independent Bus Trips will be available on
Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays 9AM-4PM Do you have a doctors appointment you need to get to? Do you
have a favorite store that you would like to go to? Lakeshore would be happy to take you! All you have to do is sign up for an
independent bus trip with the concierge at the front desk. When planning your appointments please have the following
information available: Your name, room number, phone number, appointment time, and the exact address of your destination. The scheduling book will be set up with a four months’ span to allow
for appointments to be made well in advance.
A few requirements for independent bus trips: All independent trip appointments need to be made at least a
week in advance and fall on the designated independent trip days of Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday.
All destinations need to be within a 10-mile radius of Lakeshore Senior Living. Any destination further than the set 10-miles needs to be preapproved by the Executive Director.
For any independent trips you have scheduled, you need to arrive to the lobby at least 10 minutes prior to your departure
time. If you have to cancel an appointment please let the front desk
know as soon as possible, to allow another resident to fill the time slot.
All independent bus trip pick-ups must be scheduled before 5pm. If your appointment runs longer than 5pm you will have
to arrange pick-up transportation for yourself.
