1960 ~ Britain’s first full length motorway M1 opened.

BBC2 launched in 1964 and was first to go colour in 1967.

8th August 1963 The Great Train Robbery ~ £2.6 million stolen.

30th July 1966 England beat West Germany in the World Cup.

3rd May 1968 Britain’s first heart transplant

was carried out.

2nd March 1969 British/French supersonic passenger jet plane Concorde made its first flight.
