The CMC’s Value to YouAccording to a survey of CMCs completed in 2008:
97% CMC respondents saw value in the CMC mark by
using the CMC to market themselves or
to differentiate themselves from non-CMC competitors.
41% were referred to a project by other CMCs
26% won at least one project from the referrals by other CMCs

155 CMCs responded to the survey (About 25% of IMC USA CMCs)

Applying for the CMC - The Basic Stream
3 to 9 years experience as a management consultant
At least a Bachelor’s Degree or additional five years work experience with proof of professional development
Five satisfactory Clients Engagement Evaluations
Passed a written examination on our Code of Ethics and Core Competencies
Passed the Oral Examination with panel of three senior CMCs

Advanced Stream - Management StreamExperienced Stream
10 or more years as independent or internal consulting experience
The core competency written and oral examination sections in the Basic stream may be waived
Management Stream
High level managers with 20 or more years experience with at least 3 years of consulting with clients and accountability for successful completion of projects involving management consultants
The core competency written and oral examination sections in the Basic stream may be waived

CMC Certified Through“Accredited Consulting Practices” The firm passes an assessment by IMC USA that
its certification process meets the ICMCI standard
Recognizes that training, professional development, and professional assessment tools warrant the CMC mark, to be administered by the firm
Can apply for certification with abbreviated application form

IMC USA Certification Process
Application – contact information, ensures candidate is qualified and documents their credentials, with at least 5 satisfactory Client Evaluations
Written Examination – ensures candidate has requisite knowledge, skills, and competencies to provide excellent, ethical service to his or her clients
Oral Examination – for three senior CMCs, answers the ultimate question:
“Would you want this person to represent you, your practice, and IMC USA to your clients?”

The Cost and Time to CompleteCosts
$350 for an electronic application (non-refundable) Return the Application MS Word file and your documentation scanned
into PDF or JPG files. An additional $100 if submitted in hard copy for scanning expenses (non-
refundable)

Your Application preparation – about 3 to 5 days Review and approval – 2 to 4 weeks (awaiting completion of on-line
evaluations and 1st review by the CMC® Certification Committee on the 3rd Friday of each month)
