• Symmetry: Image is balanced/equal on both sides. Can create a sense of calm within an image.

Pattern• Repetition of an element or object in an artwork.

ElementsandPrinciplesGuidebook• Using your sketchbooks, pencils, and colored

pencils, you will create a guidebook with visual examples and definitions of the 14 elements and principles of design.

• There should be one-two elements or principles per page and you should include at least one example drawing and a written definition (complete sent.).

• The 14 example drawings should each involve one common shape and should be colored using colored pencil.

• All drawings must be NON-OBJECTIVE

Criteria:• 4 pts.: written definition (complete sentences),

colored example, includes common object, and good craftsmanship• 3 pts.: missing 1 of the above• 2 pts.: missing 2 of the above• 1 pt.: missing 3 of the above• 0 pts.: missing element or principle
