As we know there are nine planets in our solar system, Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun.
It is also called as “RED PLANET”.
It consists of 95.3% of carbon-di –oxide with small amounts of carbon-monoxide,oxygen, hydrogen and water vapour. Thus forming the atmosphere.

Planets are opaque heavenly bodies.They radiate no light of their own but shine with that reflected
from the Sun.
Eg:Planet mars
There are nine planets in our solar system.
Inferior Planets
• The two planets inside the earth’s orbit, Mercury and Venus are known as inferior planets.
Superior planets
•The planets Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune & Pluto lie out side the earth’s orbit are known as superior planets

• The first superior planet is MARS

Features:Soil
• Mars is a painted desert with soil either varnished red or rusted by a thin coat of Iron oxide.
• The polar ice caps are the most prominent feature on MARS.

• Due to melting in summer and resolidifying in winter most of the polar ice is dry ice .

• The “Viking-1 Robot” photos has also given clear evidence that water being also exchanged between the Martian soil and the atmosphere.

• The photos shows fog hugging low areas on the planet, settling in crater bottoms and ancient dry canals.

• Mars has two tiny satellites called PHOBOS and DEIMOS.

Conclusion
The study of mars with detail information has been the motivation behind our project.
Our project titled “THE PLANET MARS” is user friendly and has details about structure, feature and satellites of the mars.
Even though a lot of efforts was put in developing this project, we do not claim that it is complete in all respects.
